Coco Chanel once said "fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."

to me, this quote means fashion is all about inspiration. think about the designers who create the newest trends each season. they don't lock themselves away while contimplating the next idea. they are out in the world, experiencing different cultures, different people, foods and fabrics. these are inspirations sparking their creativity. this creative energy doesn't end on the runway, either. it flows out into the world, where people like you and me are taking these ideas and interpreting them in our own way. this personal style is also influenced by the lives we live everyday.

while i am inspired by today's magazines and blogs, television and movies, the real inspiration for me comes from life: the moments shared with those i love, seeing an old couple holding hands, the city skyline at night and seeing a far away desination i've been waiting to visit.

life's fashion is about learning to appreciate the little things we take for granted. in our busy lives, we sometimes forget to see all the beautiful and colorful aspects that surround us. those are the fashoinable things, and those mean the most.
