Backstage Beauty at Monique Lhuillier

Monique Lhuillier is known for her feminine and timeless creations, but the designer decided on a totally edgy and modern look to be featured with her fall 2009 collection. this contrast was beautiful and worked well to compliment the clothes.

MAC senior artist Luc Beauchamp created a simple makeup look, making eyes the main focus with a graphic swipe of black liner. "it's quite a thick line that goes straight out and has a sheen to it," he said.

ballarinas inspired th hair for the show, explained lead hairstylist Sabrina Michals for Bumble and bumble. "it's a low bun chignon, like a little cinnamon bun," said Michals.

two tricks from backstage:**1) use bungee hair tie to make a tight bun. the stylist really stretched it around the base of the ponytail several times and it looked budge-proof. 2) twist the tail before you wrap up the bun. this gives the bun a great texture.

and finally, the nails were rocking a super-edgy dark blue hue. manicurist Mara Taskin for the Rita Hazan Salon first applied a bright Essie Aruba Blue polish, then layered a rich black Essie Licorice polish on top.
