Salma Hayek’s makeup look was directly inspired by her dress, and NARS Makeup Artist Matthew Vanleeuwen says, "she chose a very neutral colored dress and wanted to make sure her makeup look would pop. i made her eyes the focus and added a lot of rich, jewel skin tones and fresh color to her cheeks and lips. her look was very classic and chic, with some modern textures."
here's how he created her red-carpet look:
on Salma's eyes: *China Blue Single Eyeshadow was applied to top and bottom lash line. (Matthew says: "i love using navy colors because they make the whites of the eyes pop.")
*next, using the Corfu Cream Eyeshadow as a base, all over eyelid, the golden champagne side of the Alhambra Duo Eyeshadow was added to the lid. Bengali Single Eyeshadow was used all along the lash line, rubbing it into the lash line, and deepening the outer corner of the eye, creating shading.
*Mathew then curled the eyelashes and applied 2 coats of Black Orchid Mascara on lashes. he then went over top lash line with the Night Clubbing Eyeshadow and used what was left on the brush under the eye to define it. (Matthew says: "this shade is perfect to create a smokey eye-– it gives a rich sparkle at the lash line with undertones of green and gold.")
to give Salma a glowing complexion:*Mathew used the Brightening Serum on her skin to add a glow and applied Makeup Primer. Firming Foundation was applied and set with Loose Powder.
on Salma's lips:
*Marnie Lipliner Pencil and Tutti Fruity Lipstick were used first, then Boogie Nights and Greek Holiday Lipglosses were mixed and applied over the lipstick.
on Salma's cheeks:*Desire Blush was applied to the apple of Salma's cheeks (Matthew says, "i use a powder brush to apply blush. i find that a bigger brush makes a much softer wash of color."), then Laguna Bronzer was used with short, back and forth stokes from the back of cheekbone forward, to blend.
