Passport to Beauty

Passport to Beauty: Secrets and Tips from Around the World for Becoming a Global Goddess by Shalini Vadhera is the latest book to rest on my night stand. although i've already read through most of it, i know it will be a book i turn to over and over again for fabulous tips and beauty recipes.

with so many things to do everyday, reading is a luxury to me. i love to read everything from fiction to mystery, history to chick-lit. but the books i really truly enjoy the most are those that cover topics i can't get enough of: beauty and fashion. and a beauty book that gives me new ways to pamper myself is also a plus!

a beauty treatment and make-over with an exotic flair is only as far away as your local grocery store-- learn how to unleash the beatifying power of yogurt, lemon, olive oil, honey, and other surprising ingredients. additionally, learn the secrets of spices, natural remedies, and spa treatments from around the globe.

and once you've got your skin and hair looking wonderful, Shalini dips into her bag of international beauty tricks and reveals a multitude of techniques for selecting and applying make-up and always looking your absolute best.

no matter your latitude or longitude on the globe, by using the information in this book you can truly become a global goddess!

each chapter is broken up into sections that cover the region visited (with a list of countries), an overview of the local beauties, weather report, beauty secrets (the largest section also sprinkled with tips from Shalini), a summary of the region's diet and Shalini's makeup tips with the region in mind. the last chapter actually covers how to travel beautifully-- something i will need to study up on!

i love that this book is full of great tips and advice from women all over the world. it is very clear that every one of us has our desire to stay beautiful. the tips in the book make it beyond simple. it's such a fabulous book, you definitely need to check it out!

here's a fun tip from the book:

mash a ripe avocado in a bowl. apply it to your hair, starting mid shaft and concentrating down to the ends. let the avocado sit on your hair for thirty minutes, shampoo and rinse. your hair will be shinier and the oils from the avocado will help seal and hydrate.

have fun and be fabulous!
