uh-oh...the dress has already been worn
i came across something quite interesting this morning from the NY Times fashion blog, On The Runway, and thought i'd share:
Sarah Jessica Parker, at the NY premiere of Sex and the City, looked amazing. and why wouldn't she? the woman has an amazing sense of fashion, her own body and really loves to take risks.
but risk wearing a dress that had already been worn? that would be a no.
what is a girl to do? it's one thing, here in regular life, to go to an event and find out the dress you're wearing is the same one that so-and-so's sister wore to a party last month.
no big deal right? why do you care? such is not the case in the world of celebrity. if the dress has been worn by anyone-- and been photographed-- it's not an option. time to pick a new dress (even i know that).
but SJP didn't know (until the morning after) that the dress she chose to wear, a strapless Nina Ricci gown designed by Olivier Theyskens, had been worn on a red-carpet by Lauren (Davis) Santo Domingo at the Met ball, on May 5. Santo Domingo went to the Met with Theyskens, so he knew it had been worn...
turns out, the designer didn't let Ms. Parker in on this quite large detail when she showed interest in the dress. needless to say, she wasn't too happy about being deceived. "he didn't say, ‘well, actually i just escorted Lauren down the red carpet at the Met.’ " said Parker, adding, "i just wish it had been handled differently and they had been straight about it." i completely agree.

hope you're having a fabulous weekend!
