New Fragrance: SJP NYC

"i wanted to create a fragrance with a great sense of fun and whimsy." – SJP

it was only a matter of time before Sarah Jessica Parker created a fragrance inspired by the character that made her a mega star. yes, it was Carrie Bradshaw herself who inspired the essence and spirit of the new scent, SJP NYC, to capture the feeling of freedom, limitless possibilities, creative playfulness, and of course, fabulous style.

described as deliciously addictive, SJP NYC is a fruity floral built around a vivacious wild strawberry accord, lush gardenia, and creamy, sensual undertones.

other notes include: italian mandarin, white osmanthus, honeysuckle, mimosa, red rose damascenia, sandalwood, vanilla absolute, rum flavor and creamy musks.

the SJP NYC fragrance packaging brings the scent and fashion together in a surprising new way. with a collision of patterns and colors, it's like a peek inside the fabulous closet of SJP herself.

"it's about mixing things up and breaking rules, all of the things i like about fashion" - SJP

Sarah Jessica Parker Clothing Line Needs a New Home

i just read in NY Mag's blog, The Cut, that Sarah Jessica Parker will need to find a new home for her Bitten clothing line.

less than five months after its first bankruptcy filing, Steve & Barry’s filed for bankruptcy again again, and plans to liquidate.

SJP told The Cut last night at the new york city ballet's opening-night celebration that she's actively seeking a new retail partner.

"we have a lot of home offers," Parker said. "we have to make sure that any partner we enter into an agreement with wants the same thing for the brand as we do, which is to serve the customer first. you know, it can’t be about commerce, it has to be about the customer, and we have to see who’s really willing to be that generous."

she said she wants to continue the brand's original mission of offering affordable clothing.

if you've shopped her line, you know nothing is more than $20.

"now, more than ever, people need all things that are about economy," she continued. "so i want very much to continue it in the right way. so we just have to figure out what’s right for the customer, and how to do it in these economic times."

i hope she will find a home for the line soon! i myself have a few pieces from the Bitten collection that i love, so i'll keep you posted!

Sarah Jessica Parker is the Voice of Fashion

it is official:

Sarah Jessica Parker is the voice of fashion.

according to WWD, the actress and style icon will be the voice for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new audio guide tour on "Costume: The Art of Dress."

in the first audio guide by the Costume Institute, and available at the museum from Nov. 25, Parker will guide visitors through approximately 20 pieces of art from the permanent collection, including historical garments, as well as costumes depicted in paintings and sculptures. Parker taped the audio tour in a recording studio in the summer.

"looking beyond our encyclopedic collection of costume to the museum’s other treasures puts clothing into a historical context," Costume Institute curator-in-charge Harold Koda said. "walking through the galleries listening to Sarah Jessica Parker’s narration will bring a sense of discovery and delight to the experience."

sounds like it will be quite the experience (sorry...had to do it)!

what do you think: will this make you more interested in going to see the exhibit? let me know in the comments!

uh-oh...the dress has already been worn

i came across something quite interesting this morning from the NY Times fashion blog, On The Runway, and thought i'd share:

Sarah Jessica Parker, at the NY premiere of Sex and the City, looked amazing. and why wouldn't she? the woman has an amazing sense of fashion, her own body and really loves to take risks.

but risk wearing a dress that had already been worn? that would be a no.

what is a girl to do? it's one thing, here in regular life, to go to an event and find out the dress you're wearing is the same one that so-and-so's sister wore to a party last month.

no big deal right? why do you care? such is not the case in the world of celebrity. if the dress has been worn by anyone-- and been photographed-- it's not an option. time to pick a new dress (even i know that).

but SJP didn't know (until the morning after) that the dress she chose to wear, a strapless Nina Ricci gown designed by Olivier Theyskens, had been worn on a red-carpet by Lauren (Davis) Santo Domingo at the Met ball, on May 5. Santo Domingo went to the Met with Theyskens, so he knew it had been worn...

turns out, the designer didn't let Ms. Parker in on this quite large detail when she showed interest in the dress. needless to say, she wasn't too happy about being deceived. "he didn't say, ‘well, actually i just escorted Lauren down the red carpet at the Met.’ " said Parker, adding, "i just wish it had been handled differently and they had been straight about it." i completely agree.

hope you're having a fabulous weekend!

Sarah Jessica Parker's New Fragrance

Sara Jessica Parker's latest fragrance, Covet Pure Bloom, is a "bright, feminine floral indulgence, a new scent that's pure paradise and a rare sensuality".

bored with roses or mixed bouquets, Parker picked the royal indonesian pikake as the floral note at the heart of her new perfume. the notes feature purple plum, coconut water, tuberose, royal Indonesian pikake and amber creamy musks.

currently, this new fragrance is only being sold on HSN in 50ml eau de parfum sold in a duo with Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely (they ship the Lovely now, the Covet Pure Bloom on or around july 7th). wider distribution is expected in july.

sjp...

i love sarah jessica parker--from her days on square pegs-- that i watched in reruns as a child, to l.a story (i love this kooky steve martin flick), and of course sex and the city. who doesn't love carrie bradshaw?

well, sjp is on the current issue of allure magazine looking amazing as always. she is such a personable celeb like reese witherspoon and julia roberts--i could easily see myself being friends with her. and if you didn't know, she has a great line called bitten that is affordable (nothing over $20) and chic. i have pieces that i wear all the time and can't believe that i didn't have to spend a fortune.

well, check out the interview in the mag as she discusses her new movie, her fashion line and the rise to being the superstar she is today. and in true allure fashion, a timeline through pictures of her career. it's amazing to see her metamorphosis!
