look of the day: America Ferrera

Gotham Magazine celebrated its latest cover girl, America Ferrera, with a fabulous party a couple of days ago, and i must say, she looked fabulous.

i can't get enough of her blue Malandrino Resort 2009 dress (love!). with cap sleeves and a plunging neckline, this silhouette suited her well. to complete the look, she wore black peep-toes, pretty, dewy makeup and her hair styled in a half updo.

look of the day: Emily Deschanel

Emily Deschanel arrived at the 23rd Annual Genesis Awards dressed in a fantastic orange silk dress. i love this particular dress shape because it's very flattering and creates a great silhouette.

Emily's makeup look was smoldering with smokey eyes (i love the use of bronzy eyeshadow tones and big, look-at-me lashes to really make her eyes stand out), flushed pink cheeks and lips. in addition to her easy updo, she complimented her look with black pumps and gold accessories. overall a gorgeous look, don't you think?

look of the day: Blake Lively

dressed in a one-sleeved magenta mini dress (with a fabulous ruffled detailing on the shoulder) by Diane von Furstenberg, Blake Lively made an appearance at the Late Show With David Letterman earlier this week. she complimented her dress with a pair of amazing gold snake-skin pointy pumps by Jimmy Choo.

her hair was loose and informal, and her makeup followed suit, keeping her overall look elegant, yet youthful-- love!

look of the day: Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon attended the Monsters vs Aliens premiere in los angeles on sunday looking beyond incredible in a Rodarte fall 2009 dress. paired with two-toned peep-toe pumps, i think Reese rocked this dress. along with her easy, wavy hairstyle, neutral and shimmery makeup, her typical classic style received a bit of an edge-- love it!

look of the day: Coco Rocha

in my opinion, Coco Rocha always looks fabulous. at the Valentino- The Last Emperor premiere in new york, she did it again in a Jason Wu Fall 2009 ensemble: wide navy and white printed skirt and a maroon long-sleeved top. she accessorized the pieced with a narrow belt and a statement necklace.

i think maybe her hair was a little too much on the i-don't-care side, but i really like her makeup. it's sheer and very complimentary to her complexion.

look of the day: Amy Adams

Amy Adams attended a screening of her new film, Sunshine Cleaning, last night wearing a great white suit and black top-- a classic combo. accessorized with a black multi-row beaded necklace, her look was completed with a fabulous wavy hairdo, fresh makeup and black nails.

look of the day: Halle Berry

Halle Berry attended the Essence Magazine Black Woman in Hollywood Awards Luncheon today, looking beyond incredible. her amazing strapless Reem Acra spring 2009 dress was paired perfectly with Christian Louboutin slingbacks. what you can't see is that the back of the dress has a large folded detail. the look was completed with a beige snakeskin clutch.

look of the day: Blake Lively

Blake Lively attended the premiere of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee at the 59th Berlin Film Festival yesterday wearing a pink Oscar de la Renta spring 2009 gown, that had an orange ribbon around the waist.

isn't this an amazing dress? in my book Oscar can do no wrong when it comes to gowns. if i could afford to buy them, i'd wear them everyday. even to the grocery store (well, maybe not there, but you know what i mean).

look of the day: Jennifer Aniston

at the He's Just Not That Into You premiere, Jennifer Aniston looked fab in a black Burberry suit. i do sort of wish she would wear an actual color on the red carpet, but i guess we all have go-to colors we love to wear when we want to look our best.

in fresh makeup, and a ponytail that is chic, and says i'm not trying to hard, Jen accessorized with long gold chain necklaces and a soft grey clutch.

btw, i am loving the flare on her pants-- it's my style of choice (other than bootcut) when i'm shopping for pants or jeans. the best flare styles aren't ridiculously bell-bottom-ish; the leg isn't gripping at the thighs, just skimming over them and flaring out at the knee, creating a great silhouette.

look of the day: Freida Pinto

Freida Pinto attended the Producers Guild Awards wearing a fabulous nude draped gown, completed with a gold clutch and flawless makeup. once again, i was wowed by Freida's look.

one huge trend for the spring season are nude-colored clothing and accessories. think everything from actual beige to pink and peach tones. you can wear a fabulous nude handbag with anything or wear a pair of nude pumps with your LBD to elongate your legs. violet, red and blue accessories look great against nude pieces (everything from skirts to blouses and dresses), so be sure to add some nude to your life this coming season!

look of the day: Amy Adams

Amy Adams, wearing a fabulous Louis Vuitton gown, attended the Doubt photocall in paris earlier this week. while her dress was black, it was quite an intricate design with lace trimming and accents.

one thing i try to do sometimes when looking for a dress in a solid color is to look for one with little details. sure, a solid, basic dress can be dressed up and accessorized to look great, but it's always a good idea to have something in you wardrobe that you can just throw on with some heels, and not have to worry about finding those perfect pieces to go with it.

look of the day: Shakira

at the Latino Inaugural Gala, Shakira looked nothing short of amazing in a green mermaid gown with a sideways bow thing (that is a real technical fashion term, lol!).

her hair was blown out straight giving it a healthy shine, while her makeup (a soft smoky eye and light berry-colored lips) made her look radiant.

look of the day: Demi Moore

Demi Moore gets better with age, doesnt she? and i don't just mean how young she looks. fashion-wise, she is consistantly choosing fabuous ensembles that keep her style current, but it's not like she's trying to look 25. she looked amazing in the chocolate colored dress she wore to attend a film at the Sundance Film Festival over the weekend.

with her hair in gorgeous waves and skin that looked fresh and hydrated (a very good thing when you're in such cold weather!), Demi kept her makeup natural with very complimentary brown and pink tones.

look of the day: Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez attended the Hotel for Dogs premiere looking very sophisticated in a white silk capsleeve blouse and tulip-shaped skirt. nude pumps and minimal accessories kept her look fresh and chic, while a berry-red lip and a low sideswept 'do complimeted the ensemble beautifully.

look of the day: Ginnifer Goodwin

at the season 3 premiere party for the show Big Love, Ginnifer Goodwin arrived looking uber-fabulous in a white ruffle dress. keeping the dress seasonally appropriate, she paired it with black tights and heels.

her makeup, as you can see, is very natural looking. her skin looks amazing and her eyes aren't over done, just punched up a notch. in keeping with this pretty and un-fussy look, her hair is styled in a loose updo.

a look like this works for many occasions, so don't be afraid to experiment with your wardrobe and see what that mini dress you only wear in the summer looks like in with some opaque tights or a pair of tall boots!

look of the day: Isla Fisher

Isla Fisher really looked stunning at the Golden Globes on sunday. i love the contrast of her hair and her gown, don't you?

fabulous!

the makeup look really created an amazing glow on the Confessions of a Shopaholic star. neutral pink and earth tones kept her looking fresh, complimented her dress, and i love her not-too-done updo. everything just worked! what do you think?

look of the day: Taraji P. Henson

before wowing me at the Golden Globes last night, Taraji P. Henson looked stellar at the AFI Awards in los angeles a few days ago. i love this creamy white dress that she accessorized with many strands of pearls. this is quite popular right now ladies, so if you want to make a statement, layer the necklaces!

she finished the look with a great clutch (i believe it was snakeskin) and dark tan Christian Louboutin pumps. i love the hair and pretty makeup--nothing too outrageous, just classic and beautiful.

look of the day: Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale was dazzling at the People's Choice awards in a strapless deep wine colored J.Mendel (pre-fall 2009) gown.

her hair was flawlessly styled in a slick updo, and that, in my opinion, always looks great with a strapless dress. her makeup accentuated her eyes and beautiful, glowing skin. chandelier earrings and a couple of sparkling bangles completed the look.

amazing...

look of the day: Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson looked her glammed-up best at the nyc premiere of the upcoming film, Bride Wars, wearing a dress from the spring '09 collection of Oscar De La Renta.

from the picture, it looks like Kate's makeup was a typical smoky eye/pale lip, but if you look closely, color was also used-- a frosty blue shadow was used on the lids and lower lash line-- and black liner was perfectly placed, and lightly smudged, to create a slept-in-my-eye-makeup effect. her skin looks very fresh and winter-y (no bronzer here)! love...
