I think it matches her more tanned look right now. When she was paler the blonde looked great. But since she's more tan now the darker hair complements her more than if she stuck with blonde.
I think the darker shade makes her eyes pop and makes her skin glow. I heard once that your highlights should match the shade that your hair was at age 5. Seems like when people start really altering their "god given" hair color their skin color becomes very muted. This is a nice change for her.

hair color can dramatically change how some people look, even if they only go a few shades darker or lighter. but here i barely notice.
