The Body Shop Introduces Love Etc...

Love Etc..., a new fragrance collection from The Body Shop features, get this, the first eau de parfum to feature an alcohol perfume base created from an ingredient which is fairly-traded and organic. how cool is that? in any case, this scent, to me, is everything one is likely to expect because of its name alone-- romantic, sweet, alluring and delightful, with a slight hint of luxuriousness.

Love Etc... Eau de Parfum***

described by The Body Shop as a floriental, the top notes consist of pear, neroli and bergamot; middle notes include jasmine, heliotrope and lily of the valley; base notes are warm vanilla, sandalwood and musk cream.

Love Etc... Body Wash***

when i first smelled this, i instantly liked it. it's soft, romantic-- you know, girly. it's young and vibrant, but not over-the-top. it will appeal to the masses, something that, i'm sure, was done on purpose. because really, what perfume doesn't want to be liked by everyone?

Love Etc... Body Wash***

i really love wearing this scent-- the Body Wash and Lotion are perfect to use on their own or to layer under the perfume, leaving skin with a fragrance that lasts all day. while i prefer to wear this during the day, it could work for night, too-- the bright quality will keep you in a love-is-in-the-air mood.

Love Etc... is now available at The Body Shop and online, thebodyshop-usa.com

natural beauty: Nature's Minerals by The Body Shop

i get a lot of emails from readers regarding mineral makeup, and i must say they're not all good. i have been having a great experience with The Body Shop's new line of products called Nature's Minerals, though! The Body Shop is known for it's wonderful products already, so it should come as no surprise that they would do mineral makeup well, too.

finding a mineral foundation to match skintones is hard. some colors are too light or too dark with no color that fall in between (i've had this experience many times), which meant i would end up mixing color together (ugh...). to my surprise, i didn't have to do that with the Nature's Minerals Foundation. the color i chose, shade 06, and it gave me great coverage where i needed it, makes my skin look really pretty and healthy. my favorite part-- the spf 25!

the Mineral Cheek Color is sheer and adds a natural look to the skin. i have been using a color called Warm Copper that is a beautiful dark peachy-pink with a hint of shimmer; it really gives my cheeks a pretty glow, and i don't need to use an added highlighter when i wear it, so i get to omit a step in my routine everytime i use it!

the Mineral Eye Color are fabulously pigmented and wear very well. i have been using Radiant Graphite-- an interesting blend of silver-grey with flecks of gold that really illuminate my eyes and make them pop! it blends well, and lasts all day, the most important things i look for when using eyeshadow!

overall, i think Nature's Minerals is a great line! i do hope they will come out with a broader color range in their foundations. as far as i can tell from the website this range could use more selection in each direction. if you get a chance, stop by The Body Shop and look at it yourself, since colors online can be quite different from the colors you end up seeing in person.

review: Blue Corn 3-in-1 Deep Cleansing Scrub Mask

if you love multi-tasking products as much as i do, then you are going to love what The Body Shop's Blue Corn 3-in-1 Deep Cleansing Scrub Mask does!

1. it deep cleans

2. it exfoliates

3. it moisturizes

so, how does it do all of these things? check out the fabulous key ingredients:

bergamot, geranium and ylang ylang essential oils-- these oils are renowned to help balance an oily skin type. they also provides an uplifting and sensual aroma during use.

blue corn powder-- gently exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells, excess oils and dirt.

glycerin-- an effective moisturizer which helps improve softness and maximize hydration.

kaolin clay-- helps control shine. deeply cleanses, drawing out impurities from the skin, and is a mineral that helps to restore the skin's natural balance.

if you have an oilier skin type, obviously, this is perfect as a 1-2 time a week mask, but even if you have a more normal skin type, this is perfect as a 1-2 times a month mask.

it gives a cooling sensation when on the face that is quite soothing (love it after a long, hot day),and it's very important when you rinse to rub gently as the little granules will do the scrubbing for you.

for the past couple of years, my husband has loved to do this mask about once a month to really clean out his pores, and give his skin a "glow" (but don't tell him i told you!), and i love to do it weekly to help control oil and keep my skin clear.

being green

Kermit the Frog once said, "it's no easy being green". well, in this moment, more than ever, it is very easy to be green. (of course, i know he wasn't talking about the environment, but i needed an intro...)

many cosmetic companies have taking the bull by the horns, so to speak, and have reformulated products to be healthier for us as consumers. and there are companies who have always been about natural ingredients, never backing away from the belief that product don't need to be loaded with chemicals to work.

The Body Shop was founded in the UK in 1976 by Dame Anita Roddick, and now has over 2,100 stores in 55 countries, with a range of over 1,200 products, all animal cruelty free, and many with fairly traded natural ingredients.

As the name would imply, Juice Beauty prefers to do things the natural way. using certified organic ingredients in their paraben-, fragrance-, and petroleum-free formulas; this line is a trailblazer in a category that's gaining serious momentum—organic beauty. Juice Beauty gets your skin glowing while leaving you with peace of mind.

Carol's Daughter was founded in a kitchen in Brooklyn, New York. creator Lisa Price's homemade concoctions have become staples on the shelves of celebrity bathrooms. now thirteen years later, Price continues to deliver down home treatments to enhance your life and well being by providing the sweetest and most luxurious products, all made from the heart - naturally.

LAVANILA can undoubtedly be considered a fragrance revolution. breaking beauty boundaries with the world's premier healthy fragrance, LAVANILA is the first to fuse luxury fragrance with natural science. their sensual vanilla blends captivate the senses and nurture the skin thanks to an infusion with everything that's good for you and a healthy dose of pure essential oils, active botanicals, and antioxidants.

pamper your strands with Phyto. greek for 'derived from plants,' the brand merges active plant botanicals with modern science for wholesome formulas that travel to the root (literally) of the problem to snap hair back to its healthiest condition. packed in 100 percent recyclable containers, these products bring eco-friendly hair care to a shower near you.

with all these brands, and many more, available to us, we can be confident that natural beauty isn't hard to achieve.
