What I'm Watching: The Rachel Zoe Project Season 2

everyone's favorite stylist is back for a second season. last night was episode 2, and if you missed it, you're bananas. the show is definitely fast-paced and crazy. i always feel so anxious watching, although in last week's episode i already knew what Eva Mendes and Anne Hathaway wore to the Goleden Globes. on last night's ep, team Zoe ventured to new york fashion week...

so what happened? well, Rachel, as usual, stretched herself thin (no pun intended) to attend every show she could, and also got the opportunity to attend a private, early viewing of Diane von Furstenberg's collection (one my faves!). then Taylor, although in nyc, decided she needed to go back to los angeles since she had so a photos shoot to prep for there. because it was in the middle of the whirlwind fashion trip, Rachel is disappointed. Taylor questioned where her job was going, and...

Motives Cosmetics to be featured on 'The Fashion Show' Finale

be sure to tune in tonight to Bravo's The Fashion Show -- not only to see four talented designers put together their own collections for your votes, but to see Motives® by Loren Ridinger featured as the makeup of choice.



Reco, James-Paul, Daniella and Anna (pictured, left to right) all dream of having their collections sold to the public (not to mention the sweet $125,000 cash prize), and it will take the right makeup to compliment their creations. Motives has been featured on Elle.com and in magazines like Latina and Everyday with Rachel Ray. the line offers everything from custom color liquid foundations, mineral powder foundations, blushes and bronzers to lip plumpers, anti-aging lip liners and eye shadow palettes matched to your eye color.

i have seen other brands featured this season, but this one i am unfamiliar with-- thankfully, the brand has reached out and i'll be able to bring you my thoughts on this very cool-sounding line of makeup in the coming weeks.

My 3 Must-Have Pieces of Clothing

the new Bravo series The Fashion Show debuted this past thursday, and while i found the format of the show to be promising, i couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed by the designers.

the elimination challenge called for the three "quick challenge" winners to head up a team of the remaining designers to create a collection featuring one item they thought were must-haves for every woman. here's where the disappointment comes in...

the three items decided on by the three teams were a bolero jacket, harlem pants and a tube skirt.

my jaw dropped.

what?

since when? is all i could think of. i had to keep watching just to see what was created. in the end some of the looks were good, but overall the looks were ho-hum.

so i'm here to share my own 3 must-have picks that i think these designers should have created a collection around:

*a blazer
*an A-line skirt
*pants




a blazer can make your outfit look everything from casual and cool to dressy and sophisticated.



A-line skirts and dresses look good on most anyone, and can vary from everything from a short "A" to a feminine, floaty style.



pants are a staple; whether they are trousers or skinnies, no woman can live with a pair of pants that make her look fabulous.

ok, so the pictures are on the generic side, but you get the idea. the designers could have done some fabulous things with these choices in my opinion. must-have pieces should be timeless and wearable by most, after all!

what i'm watching: The Rachel Zoe Project

"i die!" is the phrase you will hear most on Bravo TV's newest reality show, The Rachel Zoe Project.

fyi-- it just means Rachel loves something...

after one episode, i already love this show! follow the life of stylist Rachel Zoe as she manages her business, shops for her clients (and always for herself), and works to venture out on her own to make Rachel Zoe a brand.

Rachel's hubby, Roger, is her business manager and best friend. he is super-supportive (but still doesn't completely get her shopping habits), and is always there for her.

Taylor is Rachel's associate and somewhat of an assistant. she is very outspoken, focused and doesn't want to have to manage or be bothered by anyone when she's working ("i'm difficult...i have high expectations...").

enter Brad, the new guy, who was hired to assist Taylor. he's the prepster, nice guy and is super-excited about his new job ("there are probably 5 top stylists; Rachel is the number 1")

**in the first episode, Rachel is feeling the pressure of finding the absolute, shut-it-down, red carpet gown for actress Joy Bryant. Taylor, in the meantime isn't really thinking too highly of Brad and his work skills.

Fashion House: Project Runway with a Twist

if you haven't heard the news by now, this is the final season that Project Runway will airing on the Bravo network. next season the fabulous show will make it's move over to Lifetime.

while i can't imagine Project Runway anywhere else, i am thankful that it will still be on the air. i love to watch all of those creative people being challenged to become even better than they already are. and of course all the other stuff that comes from reality tv shows doesn't hurt too much either, you know, it's interesting...



so the reason for this post is to tell you that Bravo has found a replacement for the huge gap it will have to fill once Project Runway says goodbye...

it's called Fashion House, and in a press release, the show is described as a one that replicates the workings of the fashion business through a fashion house. teams of designers will live together and work to create an entire line — rather than just individual pieces — that has the potential to be purchased by commercial buyers.

sounds like Project Runway with a twist! we get to see people working together all the time,and if i know anything about creative minds, it may not always be pretty (ahh...the beauty of reality tv), but you can be sure i'll be watching!

no specific air date has been released at this time, but i'll be sure to keep you filled in!
