fall beauty 2014: City Nights collection by jane iredale + fotd

the new City Nights Collection from jane iredale is simply gorgeous, and i was thrilled when the brand sent it to me to use. this radiant collection was inspired by the glamour and energy of a night out on the town.

the collection includes a gorgeous trio of matte pearl, shimmery port wine and toasted caramel shadows that can be worn separately or together to create your desired eye look {i love how easily they blend and feel so soft on my skin}; add definition and drama using the gel eyeliners in flirtatious jewel tones to create gorgeous, standout eyes {these apply smoothly and stay put all day}. the nourishing lipstick and gloss in pigmented shades of plum are perfect to complete your look, creating a pretty pout {both are silky smooth and keep lips soft}.

the City Nights collection include:

Gel Eyeliner in Green and Purple

PureMoist Lipstick in Katerina {matte mahogany rose}

PureGloss Lip Gloss in Kir Royale {a shimmery red plum}

i created this look {that i think would work for both day and night} using the all the products except the purple gel liner. in addition to my lips, i also used the Katerina lipstick on my cheeks {it's a fabulous shade!}.

if you hadn't already guessed, i am a solid fan of jane iredale ~ this collection is simply gorgeous! they create beautiful, cruelty-free products that are full of good ingredients. they make skin look and feel great. if you're not familiar and you've been curious to try their products you really should.

beauty review: jane iredale Hydrating Spray

let's face it {excuse the bad pun, LOL}, hydration is essential for keeping skin healthy and looking its best. when skin looks good, makeup looks better, and when makeup looks better, we feel better…

do you see where i'm going with this?

skincare is important! :)

that said, i'm excited. and it's all because of this beauty from Jane Iredale

 POMMISST Hydration Spray

beauties, me and my skin are quite enamored.

the jane iredale brand boasts being "the skin care makeup", and this is truly the case {stay tuned for more product reviews!}this one product is a gorgeous, multi-tasker. there are three sprays in the Hydration collection, and it's been about 4 weeks since i was given the opportunity to test out POMMISST; as previously mentioned, i love it!

with pomegranate extract, white tea leaf extract and rosemary leaf extract {all organic}, POMMISST does what it says it will: hydrate. it also conditions and is fabulous for all skin types.

the multi-tasking element comes in because all three Hydration Sprays can be used to set makeup, refresh skin any time of day, be sprayed on to makeup brushes to moisten them for creating different textures and depth of color {instead of water} and is just great overall for keeping skin in balance.

i find the scent of POMMISST to be beautiful {slightly sweet and citrusy}. it's such a treat to spray on my skin each morning, before i apply my moisturizer, after i'm done with my makeup, and each night just before i go to bed {ok, i may or may not mist my face at other points of the day, but these are the most frequent…*wink}.

the other two sprays include:

Balance Antioxidant Hydration Spray
this one is formulated specifically to help balance oil production and pH. orange essential oil, orange peel extract, grapefruit peel extract and algae extract calm and feed the skin.

 D2O Hydration Spray
sets minerals, helps to hydrate and plump the skin cells. it contains chamomile as a key ingredient to calm and protect the skin. features a ylang ylang fragrance.

so, what more can i say? as a newbie to the jane iredale brand, i am very impressed with POMMISST and can only imagine how fabulous the other two Hydration sprays are.

Get Her Look: Vera Farmiga at 'Up In the Air' Premiere

makeup artist Tina Turnbow gave actress Vera Farmiga a simple, yet still gorgeous, look for the los angeles premiere of her new film, "Up In the Air" (also starring George Clooney, swoon).

Tina says: "Vera's look was simple glamour: her dress was ephemeral– a white, almost grecian Dolce & Gabbana, and i wanted her makeup look to shine forth her beautiful features, while keeping that simple, effortless air."

using mostly natural makeup, Tina shares how she created the look:

face:

Tina Says: "Vera has a beautiful, fair complexion, so i kept it simple – with a lightweight foundation and finished with a light, rosy blush."

foundation: Almay Pure Blends Mineral Makeup in Fair - "i love that this foundation is 97.4% natural."

blush: Revolution Organics Freedom Glow Beauty Balm in Blushed - "it's a beautiful cream stick that creates very natural-looking rosy cheeks."- and Mineral Fusion Blush in Trace, "a soft, baby pink to highlight cheek bones."

powder: Tarte Provocateur SPF 8 Pressed Mineral Powder & Compact in Fair

eyes:

Tina says:"i kept the eyes nude, with a bit of pearly shimmer smudged on the lids and beautiful lush lashes. it was also important that her brows were defined and framed her face."

eyeshadow: Jane Iredale Liquid Eyeliner in Silver (smudged on lids)

lashes: Origins Full Story Lush Lash Mascara

brows: Clarins Pro Palette Eyebrow Kit. "this all-in-one kit has everything i need to create the perfect brows – from highlighter to powders to even a holding wax to groom them brows."

lips:

lip prep: Korres Guava Lip Butter to prep lips "offers creamy hydration and is a great primer for lipcolor."

lipstick: ZUZU Luxe Lipstick in Vino D'amour

Tina finished Vera's look with ARCONA Lavender Hydrating Mist "to set the makeup and give a little finishing glow"

Emily Deschanel at Arcona Launch Party for Book, Eco-Beautiful

makeup artist Spencer Barnes gave Emily Deschanel a fresh, glowing look for her attendance at wednesday night's ARCONA launch party for Eco-Beautiful: A Guide to Natural Beauty & Wellness authored by celebrity makeup artist Lina Hanson. the event was held at Vie Eco Boutique in west hollywood and featured ARCONA mini facials, as well as eco-friendly makeovers (sounds so divine, doesn't it...?).

Spencer played up Emily's gorgeous sea green eyes by creating a subtle smoky, yet luminous, look. he kept the rest of her face neutral and fresh, with a hint of a raspberry cheek and sheer raspberry shimmer on her lips. the overall look was inspired by Emily's vibrant vintage dress and her own natural, glowing skin.

here's how how the look was achieved:

skin: Spencer prepped Emily's skin by first cleansing it with ARCONA's Triad Pads. he then spritzed ARCONA's Mineral Magic and applied ARCONA's Magic White Ice to hydrate her skin thoroughly.

foundation: Spencer kept Emily's foundation to a minimum, only evening her skin with Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals in Latte. he set her foundation with ARCONA's Sunsations Mineral Makeup in Almond for a healthy-looking, radiant finish.

undereye: Spencer dabbed a bit of ARCONA's Peptide Eye Serum to retain moisture.

eyeshadow & liner: Spencer created Emily's subtle, smoky eye look beginning with a neutral bronze shimmer (Nvey Eco Organic Eye Shadow 167), topped with Jane Iredale Eye Shadow in Cloud Nine (a trio of shimmery purple and lavenders) on her lid. he then lined her eyes with Inika Mineral Eyeliner Midnight Blue, smudging Brown Nvey Eco Organic Cake Eyeliner.

mascara: for seductively lush and lengthy lashes, Spencer applied Korres Natural black mascara.

lips: Spencer added a hint of raspberry color with Aveda Sheer Mineral Lip Color in Rhubarb 601.
