Foolproof Fall Makeup from butter LONDON

bonjour, beauties! it's a pretty busy time in my life currently, and since there are no signs that things will slow down, especially with the holiday season right around the corner, saving time wherever possible is truly helpful…

so when makeup artist and butter LONDON global color ambassador Katie Jane Hughes offered some tips for a foolproof fall makeup look that anyone can achieve in about 10 minutes, i was more than happy to learn more, and of course, share the tips with you!

Katie says: "bold lips are always a fall makeup staple, but you don’t have to spend hours in front of the mirror trying to create a look that’s worthy of the red carpet. for a foolproof fall makeup look, i suggest pairing a bold lip with a soft eye."

follow these steps below for the perfect fall look that’s sure to get you out the door faster:
skin:
"always start with a clean base. use one of the new Scrubbers Makeup Remover Wipes to remove excess makeup or oil from the skin. apply moisturizer {like Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream} followed by foundation {Laura Mercier Silk Creme} over the T-zone and concealer {Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage} as needed. dust a bit of pressed powder over the face.

eyes:
take a brown pencil, like WINK Eye Pencil in Twigged, skim the pencil around lash line and blend so it looks lived-in, like a natural smokey shadow. {tip: the striking metallic effect will look great against a matte lip!} finish with a few swipes of mascara {WINK Mascara in Union Jack Black} being sure to separate each lash.

lips:
"for a fall lip, i love matte lipstick. my current favorites are LIPPY Moisture Matte Lipstick in Old Blighty and Ruby Murray. to maximize your matte, press your finger into the lipstick bullet and dab onto a puckered lip, applying until most of the lip is covered. finish by gently pushing your lips together. if you want extra definition, use the highest point on the lipstick bullet to line lips or use a brown liner {WINK Eye Pencil in Brown Sugar ~ this product is genius, i've even used it to contour!} to blend in added color and create an ombre pout."
cheeks:
fall doesn’t require too much color on cheeks, but a barely there pop of color is nice. take a blush brush and lightly dab into CHEEKY Cream Blush in Ruby Murray and gently brush over the apples of your cheeks. Your skin will look fresh and natural.

for the overachievers:
if you have an extra few minutes, a liquid-lined eye is a gorgeous addition to this fall makeup look. take your liner {try WINK Matte Liquid Eyeliner in Brown Sugar} and start with the wing, working out from the edge of your lash line where the top and bottom lid meet. work up and outward and then back toward the lid. stop here if you want an Angelina Jolie inspired cat eye. if you want more of a doe-eyed Zooey Deschanel look, continue to line the length of the eye towards the inner corner.

thanks, Katie! and to you, dear beauties, i hope this info will keep your life easy and allow you to be your fabulous self in minimal time {and if you're interested, take a look at Katie's own bold lip look on Instagram}.

New Multi-Tasking Products from Jillian Dempsey for Avon

to the joy of many multi-tasking-loving beauty mavens, Jillian Dempsey, Avon Global Creative Color Director and hollywood makeup artist, has created an exclusive line of color products for the busy woman on the go. with these products, any look can go from a sleek, professional look for day, to a sultry, smokey eye for night, to fabulous, lush lashes that are gorgeous, thick and voluminous looking (and look great anytime).

the bonus-- you can do it with just three products!

crazy to believe, i know, but i've tried them firsthand, and my product-obsessed self has been convinced that less is more (at least for some occasions, LOL!)

take a closer look at these beauties...

the Jillian Dempsey for Avon Professional Multi Pencil is my favorite! the double-ended pencil includes a soft eyeshadow on one end (blendable and great when you're in a hurry) and a gorgeous cream lip and cheek color on the other (the texture is perfect and creates a pretty finish). they come in three shade duos:

Raspberry Radiance – berry lip color with a satin finish paired with a shimmery champagne shadow.
Sugar Plum – neutral mauve lip color with a creme finish paired with a shimmery pink shadow (pictured).
Twice the Spice – deep plum lip color with a soft shimmer with a soft shimmer brown eyeshadow.

on one end of the Jillian Dempsey for Avon Professional Duo Eye Enhancer you'll find a creamy, liquid eyeshadow-- the formula goes on with a wand, and has to be blended, but wears well once applied-- and on the other, a perfectly coordinated luxurious liquid eyeliner. the liner glides on smoothly and wears great throughout the day, but i found it took a bit longer to dry than i had hoped. available in 4 duos: White/Jet Black, Shell Pink/ Warm Brown, Gold/Jet Black and Bronze/Warm Brown (pictured).

Jillian Dempsey for Avon Professional Lash Booster is designed to be applied between coats of mascara. it's a goof-proof gel that contains custom fibers that cling to lashes, helping to create a dramatic lash look. available in Black and Brown (pictured). this alternative (or in addition) to a lash primer really gives my my mascara a boost. this beauty girl loves to have fab looking lashes! :)

all of these products are available now through your local Avon representative. visit avon.com for more info.

timesaver: Nic's Sticks

ever wish there was an easier way to do your nails? want to be able to "paint and go"? do you want the color to dry quickly and be long-lasting?

of course you do! no one always has the time to go to the nail salon or sit down to polish their nails. enter Nic's Stick's part of the Nicole by OPI line. tthis ultimate time saver was discovered on a much needed shopping trip. i was surprised by the concept, but was intrigued at the idea of having a truly portable nail color. i mean yes, you can take your own nail polish with you where you want to go, but there is always the issue of finding a flat surface to put the bottle on or the possibility of dropping the bottle. nail polish isn't easy to keep in your purse at all times, let's face it. so, having a product like this is fabulous!

the color is in the pen, so you shake it gently as with typical nail polish, and apply it after pumping the color onto the brush. and applying is easy and quick, just pump the color button and brush the color onto your nails. it is thinner than traditional polishes, so darker colors may require three coats. the color dries in about a minute. really! it's super quick and that is super convenient! throw the pen in your purse for easy on-the-go touch-ups.

my manicure (using the color Stick With Me) lasted a week with only two tiny chips. i didn't even use a topcoat! i was thrilled! how much better can it get? try it for yourself. Nic's Sticks are available in 24 shades of beautiful and retail for less than $8.

have fun and be fabulous!

timesaver: neutrogena make-up remover towelettes

i am what some would call a "night person". i get most of my energy from 5pm on until i go to bed. i shoot for 9 but it's always somewhere between 10 and 11.

on the nights that i have pushed myself through a 18+ hour day (i wake up at 5:30am), the last thing i really want to do is go through my entire makeup removal routine. i just want to be in bed sleeping. as skin savvy as i am, i know better. so, i turn to a dear friend that helps me speed through the night's ritual.

neutrogena make-up removing towelettes are a genius product that not only removes makeup, but eye makeup, dirt and oil, without leaving a residue or over-drying the skin. i love that! it's convenient, quick, and gives me piece of mind that my skin is clean when i go to bed. now, if only i could get there by 9....

time saving tips

i'm a mom, and i refuse to go out of the house looking the way i looked when i woke up. no one would want to see that either, i'm sure! so, i've have a plan that streamlines my morning routine for those mornings that seem to be short in the time department.

unfortunately, in today's world, everyone is crunched for time, and finding effective shortcuts to save precious minutes are worth their weight in gold. planning ahead the night before, which can seem time consuming, saves many a panicked morning when the alarm clock doesn't go off, or you hit the snooze button one (or 3 or 5) too many times. i know, from experience, that having a "plan of action" not only saves me time, but also saves me the worry and stress that comes when your in a rush. having this plan is amazing tool that anyone can use. so, here are some tips to save you time each day with your wardrobe, make-up and hair, any time of day.

wardrobe:
**organize your closet: do you have clothes all over the place? shoes under the bed, skirts thrown over chairs? having an organinzed closet-- shirts, jeans, dresses and other like-pieces hung together-- will help you find that navy pencil skirt when you need it.
`
**plan what you will wear: no, we are not children, but planning what you will wear the next day, especially the night before, will be of help on time-crunched mornings. planning ahead for as many occasions as possible will also help in those "worst-case-senario" or "i'm-running-late" situations. don't forget shoes, accessories and the bag you will wear.

make-up:
**organize: like your closet, having your make-up organized will save you time. keeping similar products together will help you to find everything when you need it.

**use multi-purpose products: powder foundations, tinted moisturizers, cheek/lip stains, bronzers and all-over face colors can be used for more than just one area of the face. using your blush to wash color over your eyes works beautifully in a pinch.

**keep it simple: paring down your routine, and using fabulous products, will save time because you are only using what is absolutely necessary to help you look your best. Carmindy has written a great book to give you the tips, tricks and products you need.

hair:
**"power up" your blow dryer: use a hair dryer with at least 1800 watts to help dry your hair faster.

**skip the wash: if your tight on time and can't wash your hair, try a dry shampoo. these innovative products give you the option to skip a day (or two)of traditional washing and still refresh your tresses.

**let your hair air dry: letting most of the moisture dry out of your hair will save you the time (and energy) from blowing out your hair from soaking wet.

time is of the essence, as they say, so make each moment count. saving time in other areas of you life can also be valuble. check out some of these resources:
