Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss

i have heard so many great things about Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss, so i decided to pick it up. i am so happy to report, it didn't disappoint!

my lips are soft, smooth, and oh-so-glossy. it's a bit sticky, but not in an annoying, lips-get-stuck-together-sticky, but the kind of sticky that makes it last a little longer then a normal gloss. i have to point out, though, it doesn't make any claims of being long wearing. i still have to reapply it a few times a day.

i love it in Rootbeer, an amazing sheer color in the nude family. the hint of mauve-brown makes it look it looks natural alone and fabulous over lipcolor. and i don't say this often, but Rootbeer is a color for all skintones, trust me. and there are seven other colors you just might love as well.

if you have dry, flaky lips, please pick this up! you need this antioxidant-rich gloss to nourish and hydrate your lips. after all, a girl can never have too many lipglosses!

review: L'Oreal Skin Genesis Daily Moisturizer Oil Free Lotion

L'Oreal Skin Genesis Daily Moisturizer is part of L'Oreal's new Skin Genesis line, designed to keep skin looking young by strengthening the layers of skin. when the surface layers are strong, skin's cells are perfectly organized and skins' surface is smooth, tight and even.

ok, lets cut to the chase: i love this stuff!

like the Serum Concentrate, this is designed to help build up the skin's layers to keep it looking younger. this is a new product, so naturally, i was a little sceptical. with so many benefits and claims about what they do, sometimes products can let you down.

this one definitely didn't! i know my skin has only looked better since using it. it didn't irritate it or make me break out. i love the light and creamy texture as well as the way it makes my skin feel. i look radiant and never greasy. i'm not sure if my skin is stronger, since i have no wrinkles or fine lines, but i know it didn't hurt it either. this particular moisturizer doesn't contain an spf-- L'Oreal does make this same formula in with an added spf 15-- but i will continue to use it at night because it is that good!

look of the day: Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron looks fresh and summer-ready in a sheath dress from the Calvin Klein collection.

when it comes to simplicity, nothing beats a sheath dress. the clean lines keep the dress from overwhelming the figure. this style dress is a great addition to a woman's wardrobe because it can be dressed up or down, depending on the event you are going to.

while the sheath is slimming, it does look best on well-proportioned bodies-- top or bottom-heavy figures tend to look off-balance with this style.

Charlize accessorized her sheath dress with sunglasses, gold earrings and metallic shoes and a bag from Marni.

Anne Hathaway on the cover of InStyle

Anne Hathaway has come a long way since her Princess Diaries days (which, funny enough, have recently been discovered by my daughter-- she saw the picture at left, and nearly knocked me out of my seat to see it). she's savvy, funny and not afraid of fashion.

daring in her fashion choices and her roles—this summer she plays Agent 99 in Get Smart—Anne Hathaway stands out as a beacon of confident allure. within a short period of time, the young actress has graduated from fashion ingenue to a woman who navigates the designer realm with intrepid spirit and lashings of wit.

Hathaway ha developed her own unique personal style, and says, "style is not superficial! you deserve to take the way you look seriously. i've made dressing an intellectual game." (a girl after my own heart...)

in the july issue of InStyle, Anne is interviewed about everything from fashion , to working out and even admits to a few fashion faux pas.

what's your take on showing skin on the red carpet?
"i've always been on the conservative side when it comes to showing skin. i'm from that school where you show one part of your body, not all of it. [but] sometimes you just make mistakes. i once wore a see-through dress to an event, but i had absolutely no idea... and i have never not done the lighting test after that. at the end of the day, you have to dress in what you're comfortable in. if you're at ease in a bikini top and a miniskirt— though i certainly wouldn't be— go for it."

what's your style philosophy?
"if you're going to be glamorous, it has to be tempered with eccentricity so that it incorporates your own personality. dressing up is great, but you need a twist. and one of my biggest style influences has been Rachel Zoe, who introduced me to glamour. now i'm kind of pushing her a little bit to explore the eccentric side. lately, i've been having a lot more fun with how i dress. i am braving the idea of ending up on a worst-dressed list, but i'm also a lot happier with what i wear."

how did you get in shape for your role as Agent 99?
"i started working out about three months before the film began. i wanted to be curvy and muscle-y. David Kirsch, my trainer, has made sure that i am no longer self-conscious about my thighs. eventually my knees are going to be all wrinkly and i’m not going to be able to wear things like short skirts so i take pleasure in wearing them now."

what's the most tragic thing you wore in high school?
"i was still recovering from Clueless when i was in high school, so probably one too many baby-doll skirts with baby Ts, knee socks, mary janes and barrettes. maybe the occasional pair of flannel pajama pants during finals week. i don't let myself get that slobby these days."

be sure to pick up this issue, if you don't already subscribe, and read the entire interview with more fabulous photos!
