Anne Hathaway at the NYC Premiere of Love and Other Drugs

for the nyc premiere of the new film, Love and Other Drugs, celebrity makeup artist Kate Lee created a makeup look for Anne Hathaway that was "beautiful but approachable" to compliment her winter white gown.

Chanel Vitalumiere Fluid Makeup applied over Hydramax + Active Serum (also Chanel) gave Anne's skin a pretty, dewy finish. her fabulous eye look was created using a mixture of silvery and pale gold creme shadow from the Nars Thebes Duo Cream Shadow Palette as well as Chanel Eclat Lumiere in Beige Rose to lift the brow bone. Kate lined Anne's eyes close to the lashline, softly smudged it, then added feathery strip lashes before applying mascara.

to complete the look, Chanel Ultra Wear Lip Colour in Cristal Rose (new for spring '11, available in january) was used on Anne's lips. Kate says, "i love this color as it is transparent enough to see your own lip colour behind it, but will not be moved! it also has a transparent gloss which you can use to add moisture throughout the evening.”

Anne Hathaway at the Met Ball

celebrity makeup artist Leslie Lopez gave Anne Hathaway her ultra-glamorous, ultra-dramatic look, with smokey eyes as the focal point.

using products from Lancome, Leslie swept Color Design Eyeshadow in Statuesque over the entire eyelid, dabbed Color Design Eyeshadow in Daylight on the brow bone and finished with several coats of L'Extreme Mascara in Black. Anne's sheer, neutral colored lips came courtesy of L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Couture Suede-- the perfect finishing touch to this smoldering makeup look, don't you think?

Oscar Night Beauty: Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway, looking gorgeous and elegant, wore a sparkling ivory jewel encrusted Armani Prive gown. her makeup look was created to compliment the gown: sophisticated and elegant. with brows perfectly framing her face, and long, lush lashes, her eyes were very much the focal part of the look. berry-toned lips completed her look.

to get the look: try Lancome Le Crayon Poudre in Sable to fill in and shape the brows. lightly dust Lancome Color Design Eye Shadow in Ciel du Soir over the entire eyelid followed by Le Crayon Khol in Black Ebony applied to the upper lash line. lightly smudge it so there are no harsh lines, then apply several coats of Lancome Oscillation Mascara for a faux-lash effect. for just a hint of color, dust Lancome Blush Subtil in Sheer Amourose on the apples of the cheeks. to create her berry stained pout, apply Lancome Color Fever Lipstick in Brick House.

2009 SAG Awards Red Carpet Looks

while not truly mind-blowing, the SAG Awards did bring me to say amazing a few times throughout the night. the ladies on the red carpet this past sunday wowed me with colorful gowns and fabulous hair and makeup.

here are my favorite looks:

Taraji P. Henson wore a fabulous white Herve Leroux halter gown and accessorized with a great bracelet in gold tones. her hair shined as usual and fresh, glowing skin complimented a light berry lip.

Anne Hathaway also wore white, but her gown, by Azzaro, had a silver jeweled waistband and neckline. her look was all about lashes and a stained, glossy lip which looked gorgeous with her tousled waves.

Kate Winslet chose to wear a Narciso Rodriguez creation again and looked absolutely amazing! her hair was styled in a side-swept updo and to pull it all together, makeup artist Jillian Dempsey kept Kate's makeup look fresh with a soft metallic eyeshadow paired with a soft neutral palette on her lips and cheeks.

Amy Adams is fast becoming one of my red carpet favorites. in a regal purple gown designed by Giambattista Valli, the Doubt star wore a simple updo and chandelier earrings. red lips and nails gave her look a more glamorous touch, making her one of the night's standouts.

Viola Davis was nothing less than radiant in her yellow asymmetric David Meister gown. i can't get over how fabulous her skin is-- a bronze-peach blush and defined eyes complimented it well. her hair, a great bob styled in loose curls, only flattered the overall look.

Evan Rachel Wood complimented her teal asymmetric Monique Lhuillier gown with fabulous purple strappy Sergio Rossi heels and matching clutch. and while i'm not fond of her haircolor, i think she looked great with softly defined eyes and pink lips.

with hair in a classic updo and wearing an uber-flattering red lip, Christina Applegate chose an Emanuel Ungaro gown. silver-toned jewelery and accessories really popped next to green color of the gown.

2009 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Looks

the Golden Globes red carpet was full of amazing glamorous gowns, beautiful hairstyles and gorgeous makeup. i was so excited to see the looks as i watched from home, and these are a few of my favorite looks of the night...

January Jones stepped out of the 60's and into the 40's with her Golden Globes look. inspired by her dress, her hair was done in fabulous soft waves and her makeup was created to keep the focus on her lips, a pretty tangerine-red.

America Ferrera was nothing close to Ugly in her Oscar De La Renta dress (love...). her makeup was fresh and pretty, showing off her gorgeous skin. loose curls complimented this sweet style.

Kate Beckinsale showed off an amazing figure in this body-hugging gown by J. Mendel. with her hair in a sleek updo, her makeup was kept fresh and glowing. i love her big, bold chandelier earrings that are a huge trend right now.

Tarji P. Henson, also in J.Mendel, took a risk with this gown, and in my humble opinion, looked great! the GG's are a bit less serious than the Oscar's, so it worked. her skin was given a glowing look with soft, skin-complimenting hues and rose-toned lips.

Eva Mendes dazzled in her white Dior gown, loose updo and classic makeup.

Olivia Wilde, in a Reem Acra gown, looked stunning in more of a bold eye makeup look and simple, parted hair that she left down.

Evan Rachel Wood wore a gown by Elie Saab. i love the classic red nails and soft, old hollywood look of her makeup.

Anne Hathaway is already a fashion powerhouse, and she kept her place in my style book with this look. in a gown by Armani Prive, Anne looked ever the part of glamorous movie star, from her Grace Kelly-inspired updo to her elegant and classic makeup.

Jennifer Morrison in Oscar De La Renta was one of the best looks of the night. just look at that amazing dress in that amazing color! nothing about her makeup and hair is overwhelming or trying to compete with her dress, it only compliments it.

Amy Adams also wore Oscar De La Renta and couldn't have looked better. she opted to wear her hair a bit more loose and down her back.

Anne Hathaway on the cover of InStyle

Anne Hathaway has come a long way since her Princess Diaries days (which, funny enough, have recently been discovered by my daughter-- she saw the picture at left, and nearly knocked me out of my seat to see it). she's savvy, funny and not afraid of fashion.

daring in her fashion choices and her roles—this summer she plays Agent 99 in Get Smart—Anne Hathaway stands out as a beacon of confident allure. within a short period of time, the young actress has graduated from fashion ingenue to a woman who navigates the designer realm with intrepid spirit and lashings of wit.

Hathaway ha developed her own unique personal style, and says, "style is not superficial! you deserve to take the way you look seriously. i've made dressing an intellectual game." (a girl after my own heart...)

in the july issue of InStyle, Anne is interviewed about everything from fashion , to working out and even admits to a few fashion faux pas.

what's your take on showing skin on the red carpet?
"i've always been on the conservative side when it comes to showing skin. i'm from that school where you show one part of your body, not all of it. [but] sometimes you just make mistakes. i once wore a see-through dress to an event, but i had absolutely no idea... and i have never not done the lighting test after that. at the end of the day, you have to dress in what you're comfortable in. if you're at ease in a bikini top and a miniskirt— though i certainly wouldn't be— go for it."

what's your style philosophy?
"if you're going to be glamorous, it has to be tempered with eccentricity so that it incorporates your own personality. dressing up is great, but you need a twist. and one of my biggest style influences has been Rachel Zoe, who introduced me to glamour. now i'm kind of pushing her a little bit to explore the eccentric side. lately, i've been having a lot more fun with how i dress. i am braving the idea of ending up on a worst-dressed list, but i'm also a lot happier with what i wear."

how did you get in shape for your role as Agent 99?
"i started working out about three months before the film began. i wanted to be curvy and muscle-y. David Kirsch, my trainer, has made sure that i am no longer self-conscious about my thighs. eventually my knees are going to be all wrinkly and i’m not going to be able to wear things like short skirts so i take pleasure in wearing them now."

what's the most tragic thing you wore in high school?
"i was still recovering from Clueless when i was in high school, so probably one too many baby-doll skirts with baby Ts, knee socks, mary janes and barrettes. maybe the occasional pair of flannel pajama pants during finals week. i don't let myself get that slobby these days."

be sure to pick up this issue, if you don't already subscribe, and read the entire interview with more fabulous photos!

look of the day: Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway is a stunning beauty at the Grand Palais in Paris, earlier this week, as the newest ambassador for Lancome. she helped to introduce Lancome's newest fragrance, Magnifique, a woody floral, to be released in the fall.

formal events are always fun to get dressed for, and i love gowns. the best part about this Kaufman Franco gown: it has pockets-- fabulous!
