NY Fashion Week: Charlotte Ronson Spring 2010

i was fortunate enough to go backstage at Charlotte Ronson to get the scoop on the makeup, hair and nail color details for the spring 2010 season. the look, as described by Charlotte herself, is "classical meets street".

model, Selina Khan, having her hair done

as you can imagine, it was a bit chaotic backstage, but i totally expected it. as people came in and out, i just tried to snap good pics and stay out of the way, LOL!

as it rained outside, models were dolled up to look like ballerinas who were on their way home after a dance class: hair (created by Alan Ruiz for Avon) was in a twitted and tousled bun, while Charlotte Willer for Maybelline New York created a look that made the skin look look "fresh and glowy".

the nails were polished using Milani nail lacquer in Creme Brulee

i'm not going to say i was thrilled with the hairstyling choice, but as an overall concept when put together with the makeup and clothes, i got it.

check out makeup artist Charlotte Willer explain how she created the natural, glowy look for the show:

Charlotte Ronson to design a line for J.C. Penney

Charlotte Ronson

oh yes, you read the title right.

J.C. Penney is hoping Charlotte Ronson will be able to bring a bit of updated fashion to their stores.

according to WWD the retailer has signed a long-term deal with Ronson to design a full contemporary sportswear collection called I [Heart] Ronson that will be hitting 600 of Penney’s 1,093 stores for spring selling. it will also be available on jcp.com and in the store's catalogues.

the line will be targeted towards the 21 to 35-year-old woman and will be priced at the store’s better tier, ranging from $15 for layering t-shirts and tanks to $26 to $44 for blouses, sweaters and jeans to $40 to $65 for dresses and jackets.

in contrast, Ronson’s contemporary line for department stores wholesales from $70 to $130.

i am personally looking forward to seeing this collection. i know JCP isn't the trendiest department store (although, believe it or not, i have found many pieces there that i love), so hopefully this will be a successful partnership!

NY Fashion Week: Charlotte Ronson

Charlotte Ronson's Spring 2009 collection was shown on saturday, and it featured many layered pieces that were edgy, feminine and true to her own aesthetic. the collection as a whole was very rock and roll-- not really anything i would wear myself, but definitely fun to look at.

Beka at Fashion First Lunch Later, Amber at Beauty Blogging Junkie, Connie at The Daily Obsession, and Julia at All About the Pretty have all of the backstage and on the runway scoop!
