Charlotte Tilbury makeup line now available!

"beauty is not an exclusive club...there are no unattractive women, just some that don’t know the power of make-up."
~ Charlotte Tilbury ~

in case you missed the announcement, one of the world's best-known and fabulous makeup artist, Charlotte Tilbury, has launched her eponymous beauty range here in the US. if you're like me, this is exciting news!

with Kate Moss, Jennifer Lopez, Penelope Cruz, Sienna Miller, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Gisele, Rihanna, Natalie Portman, Eva Mendes and more as clients, Charlotte is {understandably} in the top ranks of makeup artists working today. her work is everywhere from runways to print, and now that her makeup is more accessible, my beauty-loving self is giddy and cannot wait to get to know her products for myself.

after more than 20 years in the industry, the Charlotte Tilbury range includes skincare and cosmetics that have been inspired by the glamour of hollywood's classic beauty icons {think Marilyn, Grace and Elizabeth} as well as our modern day counterparts. one thing i love is that Charlotte has created 10 signature looks that will take the guesswork out of creating a certain look. you can buy everything you need together in complete "look" kits or individually to suit your personal style.

there are plenty of standout products in the range, but i wanted to share a few you may want to try first. this includes Charlotte’s Magic Cream Treat & Transform Moisturizer. used and perfected over the years backstage at shoots and shows, Charlotte calls this "a push-up bra" in a jar! the oil and antioxidant-rich formula promises to flood the skin with moisture, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and transform a dull complexion into luminous, glowing skin.

Tilbury tip: Magic Cream can be used to fix makeup mishaps. just dip a Q-tip in to remove any dropped eyeshadow, fix a feline flick or tidy up mascara.

Wonderglow Instant Soft-Focus Beauty Flash beautifully merges an age-fighting elixir with a complexion-enhancing light diffuser to give your skin an instant "spotlight" effect, making you look lit from within. collagen boosting peptides and patented wrinkle-preventing ingredients are fused with light-reflecting microspheres that fill in wrinkles, scattering light to blur away lines, and flood skin with luminosity.

Tilbury tip: Wonderglow works great underneath foundation, on its own for a relaxed, effortlessly dewy look, or on top of makeup throughout the day to give your skin an instant pick-me-up.

Full Fat Lashes 5 Star Mascara in Glossy Black was created after Charlotte had been mixing up to 5 mascaras {!!} to get the look she wanted {curl, volume, separation, length and drama}. Full Fat ticks all those boxes to give lashes a full, fluttering false-lash effect.

Tilbury tip: always curl lashes before using mascara. it's like a push-up bra for the eyes. also, you need to layer mascara for full effect! use at least three coats and lift from the root to elongate and thicken.

there are so many products in the range {including brushes}, but i won't overwhelm you with it all. hopefully you'll seek it out ~ everything looks gorgeous! i love that Charlotte is a fan of push-up bras, glowing skin, lush lashes and glamour that brings confidence to a woman's life every day ~ she's definitely my kind of lady…

:)

are you excited about the new Charlotte Tilbury line? i love mascara, so i am definitely curious to try hers and discover how its specially-designed laser cut brush will work. it boasts being able to pick up even the smallest of lashes for a larger than life flutter. Charlotte shares her tips and tricks in this video…

expect to see a lot of coverage regarding this popular brand in the coming days and weeks. there will be events coming up, and if you're near them you might be able to attend! until then, be sure to discover the entire collection here and leave me a comment ~ i'd love to know which products you're most curious to try first as well!

mother's day beauty: industry pros share their favorite tips & tricks

some advice moms give their children may go unnoticed, but sometimes they really do know best. just in time for mother's day, some very fabulous beauty industry pros have shared with me beauty tips and some words of beauty wisdom they received from their moms {and grandmothers} that highly influenced their success.

i'm loving the advice they shared, and think you will too!
take a look…

before Charlotte Tilbury become an international makeup artist, she spent her childhood years on the island of ibiza with her parents, Patsy and Lance. what’s the best piece of advice that Patsy gave to her daughter? take your pick:

*lipstick gives instant glamour, so there is no excuse for not doing your makeup every morning.
*always protect your skin. growing up on an island, Charlotte’s mom always insisted that Charlotte use the best sunscreen available.
*moisturizer is important. not only for your face, but to prevent the aging of the hands as well.
*always wear high heels!

mother's day isn't just any other day for Miko and Titi Branch, the founders and CEOs of Miss Jessie’s. the company name itself pays tribute to their grandmother Jessie, better known as "Miss Jessie". Miko and Titi still take their beloved grandmother's teachings to heart:

*the importance of deep conditioning hair. Miss Jessie once created a softening, deep conditioning crème with an egg and mayonnaise.
*carefully blot curly, wet hair with a towel in downward motion. randomly drying hair can cause excess frizz that turns curly hair into a complete disaster.

Katie Jane Hughes, butter LONDON global colour ambassador, learned her beauty basics from her mother and grandmother.

*Katie's mom believed in the power of lipstick saying, "you never know who you’re going to meet!"
*her grandmother faithfully used L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray! to this day the smell still reminds Katie of her.

what's the best beauty advice or fave beauty tip that you've received from your mom or grandmother?

Summer Beauty Trend: Bold Eyes

many models strutted their stuff on the Spring/Summer runways wearing a bold eye of some sort. everything from a splash of color to smeared raccoon eyes let us know that it would be ok to go bold, even in the warm season. i am so loving this trend, since of course i'm all about eye makeup-- ha!

bold blue-green eye makeup and soft waves at Gucci
"the hair was strong with a sense of mystery," says Kerastase stylist Luigi Murenu. he applied mousse for added volume, curled the hair from mid-shaft to the ends and finished with a shine spray. for the eyes, Pat McGrath layered a combination of green shadows (Make Up For Ever Flash Color Pot in Turquoise, CoverGirl shadow in Turquoise Tempest and Max Factor shadow in Moody Mint) on the upper lids, and completed the look with black liquid liner, black mascara and individual false lashes.

raccoon eyes and straight hair at Matthew Williamson
with a rock & roll edge, the Matthew Williamson show featured a perfect look fitting to the theme. created by makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury, the eyes were rimmed with black MAC eye pencil and dark shadow for an all-around smoky eye. stylist Paul Hanlon kept the hair simple with oil spray and a flat iron.

smoky eyes, pale lips and rolled hair at Carolina Herrera
"the look is dramatic with a softness to it," says makeup artist Diane Kendal, who created a strong eye and a contrasting soft pink lip. using a MAC eye kohl in Smolder (black), she lined the eyes and blended it into the crease. the lips were layered with MAC lip conditioner and Bubbles lipstick. the hair, created by Orlando Pita for T3, contrasted with the sophisticated clothes in the collection. he parted the hair off-center and then rolled it away from the face, twisting it around the head and securing with bobby pins.
