new fragrance: Vera Wang Be Jeweled

if there's a part of a beauty-loving girl's life that's uber personal, it's fragrance. for me, not only does it reflect a significant part of who i am, but projects my current mood {and in some cases, the mood i'd prefer to be in}, and can change as seasons come and go...

if you you're a regular reader, you know i j'adore scents with floral and citrus notes. i'm most attracted to those that are light, sweet but not-too-sweet, feminine, lush and just pretty; on occasion i find a perfume with warmer notes that i like, so i maybe i could be called a sophisticated girly-girl when it comes to perfume preference {is that a category??}

what i'm {finally} getting at is this: Vera Wang has released a new perfume called Be Jeweled that sounds like i {and maybe you, too} would love...

top notes:
a blend of red currant, pomegranate and champagne

heart:
fruity zests of passion fruit combined with pink honeysuckle and pink peony

base notes:
accords of pink crystal-sugar accompanied with a sensual trail of musk and australian sandalwood

i haven't smelled it yet {hopefully i will soon}, but i just had to share. doesn't it sound lovely? not to mention the bottle is gorgeous!

and of course, so is the ad. definitely fun and oh-so glam...

ballerina-turned-model, Laura Love {above, center}, is the face of the fragrance campaign. get a little glimpse into a day in her life {and thoughts about being the Be Jeweled face} in the video below...

you can find Be Jeweled in store and online, kohls.com.

does Vera Wang Be Jeweled sound like something you'd wear? have you smelled it? let me know in the comments!!

NY Fashion Week: Cle de Peau at Vera Wang Spring 2010

Vera Wang found inspiration for her spring 2010 collection through Paul Poiret, the french designer some say was the first to "drape" his designs-- a new approach that signaled a departure from rigid tailoring. it was with this in mind that Lucia Pieroni, color creator for Clé de Peau Beauté, created her own new approach, developing a boy-like, simple face for each model, that worked perfectly with the clothing and bold jewelry.

"i wanted the models to appear cool and very natural, so i created a super sheer base on the face with eye accents only, of taupe and silver." Lucia says. "i wanted them to look healthy, but a bit supernatural."

beginning with the new Luminizing Enhancer Base, Lucia created a luminous complexion and evened out skin tone, prior to applying the Refining Fluid Foundation to provide an even, flawless and radiant finish on skin.

next, Lucia accented and extended the brows utilizing Eyebrow Pencil in #104/Grey to give a fuller, still polished effect.

to brighten eyes, she used new Satin Eye Color in #11/silver with a touch of shade #111/Taupe to add definition at the outer corners.

Lucia decided to forego the mascara and eyeliner, but chose instead to utilize Satin Eye Color #104/Golden to highlight the browbone and the top of the cheek, adding an ethereal glow.

finally, lips were colored to understated perfection, complementing the face without drawing attention. Lucia used new Extra Rich Lipstick in T40, a nude shade inspired by tea roses.

the new Clé de Peau Beauté spring 2010 collection will premier in march 2010 at Bergdorf Goodman and select Barney's, Neiman Marcus and Saks locations nationwide.

SAG Awards' Red Carpet Looks: America Ferrera

at last night's SAG Awards, America Ferrera looked exquisite thanks to makeup that was inspired by her Vera Wang beige chiffon gown with black trim accented by a giant flower at her hip.

makeup artist Linda Hay wanted to give her a fresh and romantic feel, yet very modern, to compliment the gentle nature of the dreamy gown. so, Hay decided on a very simple eye, a peachy cheek and a deep red lip.

Linda began creating her look by lightly evening America’s complexion using YSL's Touche Eclat where necessary, around the eyes, the nose and the corners of the mouth, followed by a light dusting of powder. she then applied Shu Uemura’s Peche directly to the apple of the cheek for a fresh, youthful look.

for America's eyes, she drew a fine line on the top eyelid with Jouer Eye Definer in Mure. using a large flat eye brush, Linda gently swept a shimmering white shadow from Cle de Peau #14 Eye Color Quad, across the entire lid, up and into the brow. with a smaller pointed eye brush she lined the silver shadow from the same palette to the bottom lid and from the inside corner to the outside corner of the eye. the inside of the eye was lined with Jouer Eye Clarifier Clair. finally, Linda applied three generous coats of Chanel mascara to both top and bottom lashes and gave the brow a strong and well defined look using Anastasia's Brow Kit.

on the lips, she used MAC's Viva Glam Lipstick.

summer fragrances

summer is just around the corner! i am so excited! not for the heat, but for all of the fun that comes with it...

there are so many different things that go on in the summer, so what better excuse do you have for finding a great new fragrance? summer is a great time to find a light, airy scent that won't hold you down or make you feel over-done...

here are some great scents to try out for the hot weather season:

Bath and Body Works Enchanted Orchid

i love this scent...i previewed it before it was released, and at the store when it launched. it was by accident, of course, because it got such a great response that the company released it early. rare calypso orchids are enhanced by violets and white irises...

Givenchy Very Irresistible

this limited edition scent is great for a girls night out! this light floral is a mix of pomegranate, star anise and sandalwood – with a mint leaf twist!

Stella McCartney Sheer Eau de Parfum
for the feminine fashion lover..this floral is a lighter version of her signature original. it's sheer delight and perfect for summer.

Vera Wang Bouquet Eau de Parfum
part of her signature bridal collection, Bouquet is a feminine and modern scent. perfect for your "i do's" or a special summer day.

Stila Mandarin Mist Eau de Parfum
if you are a fan of citrus scents, this light, sweet citrus-y scent will be perfect for your fun in the summer sun. (a little cheesy, i know...)

it's going to be a fabulous summer!

men's fragrance review: Vera Wang

nothing is better than a good smelling man. in search of the perfect scent for hubby, we have discovered a fragrance worth wearing.

queen of the perfect wedding gown design, Vera Wang, has created a men's fragrance that is fresh, yet dries down to be very earthy and mild. i lke that it isn't too strong, just the right blend to leave me wanting to smell it more. it's not overpowering as some fragances can be, so that is a definite plus.

hubby has worn this fragrance twice since we picked up a sample at Nordstrom last week. he likes that it is youthful, yet "grown up". i like that he's wearing cologne!

check it out for yourself online and in finer department stores near you.
