NYFW hair: TRESemme at Jenny Packham f/w '14

for her latest collection, Jenny Packham was inspired by Bianca Jagger in the 1970's, who served as the darling of new york society. she was a woman who "epitomized the ease and opulence of evening wear at the time." and it wasn't exactly what the designer's muse wore, but "how she wore it".

to add the perfect compliment, TRESemmé stylist Jeanie Syfu created a hair look that reflected Jenny's vision: a loose, knotted bun that's both decadent and natural.

TRESemme products used:
24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse
Keratin Smooth Illuminating Shine Spray
Split Remedy Leave-In Split End Conditioning Treatment
24 Hour Body Finishing Spray

tools:
blow dryer, round brush, Mason Pearson brush, elastic, bobby pins and hair pins

how to create the look:
apply TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse to hair and blow dry with a round brush; once hair is completely dry, back-brush hair for volume. spray with Keratin Smooth Illuminating Shine Spray while gently brushing the hair away from the face. pull the hair back so that it loosely covers the ears into a low ponytail and fasten with elastic. twist the length of the hair into a bun, leaving the ends out, and fasten with hair pins.
apply Leave-In Split End Conditioning Treatment through the front of the hairline while loosely separating the hair with fingertips.
for a touchable hold, finish the look with 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray.

a simply lovely style that can easily be recreated...always love that!  you can find the products mentioned at your favorite mass and drugstore retailers. visit tresemme.com for more info.

backstage at rag & bone, Revlon global artistic director, Gucci Westman, juxtaposed the masculine designs of rag & bone fall 2013 collection with a soft and feminine makeup look.

"i wanted to create a look that was super girly and contrasted with the masculine feel of the collection,” says Westman. "the focus of this look is definitely the eyeliner. i added a bit of a modern twist to a classic 60’s look by using a gel liner across the top of the lid. currently loving...

bonjour, loves! hope you're having a beautiful week!

i don't know about you, but i like to make it a point to find something to appreciate every day. i've shared previously, for example, the morning walks i take with my dog, Piper. our pre-dawn ritual is not only a healthy thing to do, but allows me to mentally plan for my day. it's on these walks that i also get to see  gorgeous sunrises and sometimes experience the unexpected. on two different days last week i found myself in a sudden downpour {the pup and i were too far from from home at that point to turn around, so we kept walking and, thankfully, it lasted less than 10 minutes} and witness to a huge spider spinning a fabulously huge web. at first the sight scared me {did i mention it was a huge spider?!}, but realizing i was in no danger i stopped to watch...it was beyond fascinating!

in any case, these are some other things i'm currently loving...

fashion week month! for the past week nyc fashion shows have been wowing me, but will be wrapping up tomorrow; london shows are the 14th through the 18th, followed by milan {19th-25th} and paris {25th-october 5th}. i find it so inspiring to see the months of work and creative thought come to life, even if only for a comparatively short span of time on the runway.

to keep myself on task {believe me, it's easy to let all the fashion week coverage take up precious time} i have adopted the Pomodoro Technique. this basic concept instructs individuals to spend 25 minutes of devoted effort on work and then take a 5-minutes break. this has truly been helping me to focus on whatever it is i need to get done, then i can do something different for 5 minutes {like blast some music and dance around the living room} until i'm done with my task.

this DIY video {can't wait to do this myself!}

{one of} my current reads, The Way She Looks Tonight, a biography of sorts that highlights 5 fabulous trendsetting women in history.

Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream. this is an old skincare fave that i admit i forgot i enjoyed using until i was reintroduced to it {thanks to a gwp}.

what are you currently finding love for? share in the comments! :)

NY Fashion Week Spring 2011: Aveda Backstage at Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano-2289

let the beautiful madness begin-- fashion week for the spring/summer season is underway, beauties! so much is going on, but i will do my best to bring you the best hair and beauty as the week progresses. so, here we go...

Christian Siriano-2330

Aveda lead stylist Antoinette Beenders (pictured above with Christian Siriano) created an amazing, textured bun at the Christian Siriano spring/summer 2011 show. using a lot of Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray, Antoinette explains, "the Christian Siriano hair look for this season is all about different cultures mixing and blending together. the style is a modern bun—full of attitude—with sections of crimped hair cascading over it for texture. it's a strong, contemporary twist on the classic bun."

here's how she created the look:

1. brush hair with a Mason Pearson brush. pull the top section of hair — from the hairline to the crown — and clip it out of the way.

2. comb the remaining hair back into a tight, high ponytail and secure with a bungee elastic. spray with Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray for hold.

3. spray Aveda Brilliant Spray-On Shine directly onto the bristles of a kabuki-style Aveda Uruku Bronzing Brush. "paint" the sides of hair with the Uruku Bronzing Brush for shine.

4. take the ponytail and braid it. then twist the braid into a bun, securing to the head with bobby pins. spray with Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray for ultra-strong hold.

5. remove the clip from the remaining top section of hair and comb to the crown. working with small portions of hair (approximately one inch) at a time, use a micro-crimping iron to add texture from the crown to ends.

6. brush the hair with a Mason Pearson brush to loosen the crimp. gently pull the hair over the bun and secure at the base with hair pins. spray with Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray.

7. pull a few pieces of hair out of the bun with fingers for extra texture. set the look with Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray.

Selita Ebanks at Fashion Week

wearing a fabulous dress by Rachel Roy, shoes by Gucci, gorgeous makeup created by Sywia Rokowska and a fierce hairstyle, it's easy to see that supermodel Selita Ebanks made her way through fashion week looking amazing. there was one day in particular that was pointed out to me on a day her hair was fabulously shiny and healthy-looking.

so how did Selita keep her tresses looking so gorgeous? her secret is Biolustre, a 4-step treatment system that helps repair overprocessed, damaged, tired hair. to restore healthy shine to her hair before her day of appearances during fashion week, and prepare it for styling, Biolustre celebrity stylist Ricardo Rojas created her style for Rachel Roy's fall 2010 presentation by blowing the hair dry with a round brush to accentuate her natural waves and add volume.

because the Biolustre treatment evens the texture of hair from root to end, Ricardo did not use any other styling products. to hold the look for the entire evening, he finished with Acanthe Curl Enhancing Leave-In Fluid to set the waves for a flawless look.

this Biolustre treatment sounds amazing, right? celebs like Heidi Klum, Mandy Moore and Booke Sheilds also use it to keep their hair looking its best.. visit biolustre.com for more info.

L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray

L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin is a hairspray used by hairstylists around the world and, until now, hasn't been available in the states. now that it has made its u.s. debut nationwide, there is an excitement from both those who have experienced its fabulousness overseas and those who have only heard about it.

i recently started using Elnett, and have to say i now understand why it is so loved and obsessed over!

"hairstylists around the world have been using Elnett Satin for years. it is truly the hairspray of choice for on-set styles, red carpet looks, or anytime you need your hair to hold without looking stiff. it's also very gentle on color-treated hair," says Christophe Robin, renowned hair expert and consultant to L'Oreal Paris.

Elnett Satin hairspray provides amazing hold yet manages to disappear when hair is brushed. hair is left clean, shiny looking and soft to the touch. micro-diffusion technology allows for even application to set any style, while humidity protection lets it stand up to the elements.
