countdown to mother's day, part two, continued

moms want things that sparkle, right? so what's stopping you from giving her what she wants?

don't think you have to take out a loan to spoil your mom with shimmer and shine (can you tell i'm trying really hard to avoid the word bling?). great simple necklaces, like the one at left, work especially if your mom isn't into showy
pieces.

a more dramatic approach would be something like this chunky necklace. paired with a simple ensemble, the necklace really becomes the hightlight.

earrings that are more casual are more likely to be worn by mom. yes, traditional diamond studs and pearls are always welcomed, i'm sure, but if your momma is even a little up on trends, she'll love that you chose some fashion-forward (but not too trendy) earrings.

bangles are never out of style, and i you know that your mom wears them, these would be a perfect gift! make sure to pick original styles that she doesn't have.

have fun shopping for that fabulous mom of yours...

review: Hourglass Blush Duo

Hourglass Cosmetics features some of the chicest, most luxurious products with packaging to match. every product is formulated using the latest in cosmetic technology and incorporates ingredients to smooth your skin and leave you looking nothing less than fabulous.

i have been given the privilege to try the Blush Duo in Brazilian, a golden bronze and apricot blush set. the colors are so complimentary and blend together create a gorgeous glow. i also wore them together, using the bronze shade to contour just under my cheekbones to create depth, while i used the apricot shade to hightlight my cheeks.

worn alone, the golden bronze shade creates, a healthy natural glow, while the apricot shade works great to highlight and add a sweet, natural looking wash of color. this duo is perfect for the summer season as well as not-so-summer seasons. not too shimmery, these colors go on easily, and i can say i was instantly happy with the results i saw (that means i loved it!).

i love that this comes in a sturdy, yet pretty compact in a faux leather case with a (big) mirror and a magnetic clasp to hold it closed. Hourglass holds nothing back when it comes to pairing substance with style.

i am loving Hourglass at this moment, and tomorrow, you will find out about another product that has me hooked to this line!

want to meet the creator of Hourglass, Carisa Janes and the brand's lead makeup artist, Josh Wolf? they will be in Beverly Hills this weekend for a beauty event just in time for mother's day at Barneys. click here for more details.

Hourglass Cosmetics are available online at HourglassCosmetics.com and Sephora.com

countdown to mother's day, part two

i don't know about you, but my mom isn't crafty, is not one for entertaining, and she's not a fan of cooking. so, as far as gift-giving goes, i stay away from all things associated with those things.

my mom wants jewelry, handbags or bath and body products. i can say the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree, to be honest (but at least i like to cook!).

so this mother's day, you may be led to go in this direction. pamper her with things that will make her feel and look great! gifts like this Borghese Mother's Day Spa Serenity Set are great to give because she'll get a little bit of everything all in a fabulous straw bag just in time for summer.

what mom would turn down a trip to the spa? SpaFinder.com gift certificates are accepted at over 4,000 participating spas worldwide so she can choose her favorite after they receive their special gift, are redeemable for spa treatments, vacation experiences, spa products and more. gift certificates range from $50 to $1000, in increments of $25 to fit your budget.

my mom always seems to want my bag, so if i get her a bag (and i'm not saying if i am or not--she could read this!), it will be one that i would want for myself. kind of a hard thing to do, yes, because if you want it, then why not buy it for yourself and get her something else? if you can't do it, definitely go with a different gift. but i, on the other hand, know that my mom would be happy to know that i "sacrificed" a bag i loved to give her as a gift...

..but i could always just get one for me in a different color...hey, i'm a mom, too!

look of the day: being a mom

Kate Hudson, People mag's covergirl, having fun and looking beautiful (of course), gives credit to being a mom for her looks:
"i haven't gotten a facial in a million years. i don't do those kinds of things. and when i do, i always think, 'i should do this more often.'"

Kate looks amazing, and being a mom definitely works for her!
