FOTD: My St. Patrick's Day Look

for st. patty's day, and since i'm not of fan of green lipstick (i know, ha ha), i decided to do a little green on the eyes. i haven't worn greens in awhile, so i welcomed the chance to do something a little different.

on my eyes: Wet N Wild Mega Eyes eyeshadow in Amazon Greens, L'Oreal HiP High Intensity Pigments Illuminating Highlighter (this item seems to be unavailable in stores anymore), MAC Eyeshadow in Texture, Wet N Wild Kohl Eyeliner in Deep Blue, Cargo Plant Love Eyeliner in Black, Maybelline the Colossal Volum Express Mascara layered over Maybelline Lash Stiletto (stay tuned for my video review!).

on my brows: Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Medium Ash

on my face: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup in Bronze, Hourglass Veil Invisible Powder (this is another i have yet to officially review although it has been featured many times before here on BGM).

on my cheeks: Bobbi Brown Copper Diamond Shimmer Brick as a highlight and MAC Beauty Powder Blush in Ablaze (this was a limited edition color).

on my lips: J. Lynne Cosmetics Gloss Effects Lip Glaze in Sandra

review: J.Lynne Cosmetics Smooth Mineral Foundation

you may have already read my rave review about J. Lynne Cosmetics Gloss FX Natural Lip Glaze (if not, click the link), and today i have to rave again about their Smooth Mineral Foundation.

this fine-milled powder not only treats my skin well, but it covers like no other mineral powder foundation i have ever used! i was pleasantly surprised when i first used it, and fell in love even more when my skin still looked great hours later.

below are pictures of the six samples i received so i could find my perfect shade (you can also order samples-- it's a great way to ensure you find yours!)

the "deeps" (my color is Deep Cool 5.2)

the "deepers"

i apply this the same as any other mineral powder foundations-- with a kabuki brush on the areas i need more coverage, and a fluffy powder brush for the rest-- and end up with smooth, perfectly even skin! one thing that caught my attention right away was that these contain no sort of shimmer or "light reflecting" particles; the finish is very matte. i like this because once i apply the rest of my makeup (most of which have a shimmer), i don't look overly shimmery.

available in 8 color groups, (porcelain, fair, ivory, light, medium, tan, deep and deeper), with each group featuring varying undertones, i believe that most people will find their skin's perfect match. i'll say it again though, order samples to be sure you find the right one.

review: J.Lynne Gloss FX Lip Glaze

it's so hard to find a lipgloss that is long-lasting and keeps lips moist. i have found very few that do it well, but J.Lynne Gloss FX Lip Glaze really got it right with their yummy formula!

i have been using colors from the Neutrals, Peaches & Reds Collections, and wow! am i impressed! each shade is blendable, glides on smoothly and really lasts! i wore Penelope on Christmas, and couldn't believe that i didn't have to keep reapplying it all day-- even after eating. i was thrilled!

i can't even begin to describe how elated i am to have been introduced to these fabulous lippies! you really need to try them too. you can order a full size tube, or if you can also purchase samples (btw, other colors i like from this collection are Sandra, Jennifer and Jessica).

another plus, especially if you're resolving to go-green or want to support domestic brands: J.Lynne products are an indie beauty and mineral makeup company based out of arizona that specialize in natural cosmetics. all of their products are cruelty free and are completely free of chemicals, synthetics, fragrances and dyes.
