Leighton Meester at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards

when Leighton Meester attended the 2010 Teen Choice Awards, she too had a pretty makeup look, created by none other than CoverGirl's celeb makeup artist Molly R. Stern.

Molly shares what products, and how she used them, to create this soft, feminine look...

for her face:

"i prepped Leighton's skin with Josie Marin Argan Oil Skin Primer and lightly moisturized with Sk-11 Facial Lift Emulsion. next, i sparingly used CoverGirl Clean Liquid Makeup.

for her eyes:

"we wanted a celestial glow with a smidge of an edge. so i first based her eye with NARS Cream Chadow in Corfu on the lid, then with Shu Uemura P Gold 94 over the top. i added a little silver sparkly glittery shadow from RMK, a treasure i found in japan, to the inside of the lid and under the outer edge of the eye. next, i lined the top of the lid at the lash line and under the eye with CoverGirl LiquiLineBlast Eyeliner in Blue Boom. for her lashes, 2 coats of CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion in Brown was the perfect finish."

on her cheeks:

"i used Kevin Aucoin Creamy Moist Glow in Nuelle and dusted YSL Touché Blush over the top. to set her look for the red carpet i dusted all over with La Mer Treatment Powder Foundation in Linen.

on her lips:

"i wanted a long lasting nude so i chose CoverGirl Oulast Lipstain in Nude Kiss on the lip with CoverGirl ShineBlast Lipgloss in Dazzle over top."

thanks Molly-- fabulous work!

Amy Adams at 'Julie & Julia' Premiere

CoverGirl celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern created Amy Adams' red carpet look for thursday night's nyc premiere of Julie & Julia.

Molly says: "it always seems that inspiration ends up coming from the dress. Amy wore a gorgeous full length Carolina Herrera gown with a charcoal and white pattern speckled with gold beading. so i borrowed from that exquisite color palette."

the look was "a steel and copper smoky lid, gorgeous full lashes, a peachy cheek and a golden amber lip."

face:

"i first started by prepping her skin with a refreshing spray of Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist. and then moisturized her skin with La Mer's The Moisturizing Lotion.
next, i based her skin sparingly with the new Cle de peau cream foundation."

"then i warmed up her cheeks with the gorgeous new CoverGirl Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach."

eyes:

"for her eyes, i based the lid with a combination of Shu Uemura's Cream Eye Shadow in P Taupe, and Vincent Longo's Silky Orange Liquid Eyeshadow. over that i blended the new NARS shadow duo in Brumes."

"under her eye i smudged CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Eyeliner in Radiant Sapphire in the outer corner, and on the inner corner i dabbed a smidge of Shu Uemura Pressed Eye Shadow in ME gold 350."

"on her lashes i coated them with CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Mascara in Black Sapphire."

lips:

"to finish off the look i tinted her lips with CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in Cinnamon Smile with a dab of YSL Golden Gloss over top."

i love the combination of high and low-priced brands that Molly used to create Amy's looks-- just goes to show you that even drugstore makeup can give you a fabulous red-carpet look! thanks Molly!

La Mer Partnering with Oceana for World Oceans Day 2009

in honor of La Mer's sea heritage and continued support of Oceana, the world's leading international ocean advocacy organization, the company is proud to announce that as part of this partnership, La Mer has designed a limited-edition 250 ml (8.45 oz) "World Oceans Day" Creme, with 100% of net proceeds going to Oceana.

"i used to think the biggest threat to our oceans was pollution before i met the dedicated team at Oceana," shares Andy Bevacqua, vice president of research and development, The Max Huber Research Labs and Oceana Ocean Council Member. "but after spending time with Oceana scientists and on board the Oceana Ranger, i think an even bigger threat is overfishing. in the collaboration between La Mer and Oceana, i have come to understand that the only way we will get things done and make real change is if the three prongs-- the government, NGOs, and industry-- all work together. we all have a common goal."

La Mer's collaboration with Oceana began in 2005, and this is the second year that La Mer and Oceana have partnered to raise awareness for World Oceans Day, june 8th.

the World Oceans Day limited edition Creme de la Mer is being sold now through june at Saks Fifth Avenue and lamer.com.

review: La Mer The Body Refiner

La Mer's The Body Refiner is the luxury item every beauty lover should have in her shower. i tell you, there is nothing like life's luxuries: getting a massage, listening to the ocean, exfoliating with diamond dust...

wait, what?

yes, listening to the ocean is a luxury to some people-- oh! you meant exfoliating with diamond dust...sorry...

ok, all joking aside, La Mer has seriously put real diamond dust into its new shower scrub, called The Body Refiner, and i have to tell you-- it is incredible! i mean, talk about luxurious! it works beautifully, giving me soft, radiant skin right out of the shower. every time i use it (about 1-2 times a week), i feel as though i am royalty.

infused with over a carat and a half of pure diamond powder, this multi-faceted treatment instantly polishes the skin to reveal a soft new surface. this spa-like treatment protects skin's delicate moisture barrier, working organically, energetically and physically to reveal a soft and healthy, resilient new surface.

in addition to the the diamonds, this scrub is rich in hyaluronic acid (known for its ability to keep skin hydrated), a micro-algae complex, and La Mer's legendary emollients that hydrate, cushion and soothe the skin. sea mud, tourmaline and many other skin-loving elements are infused in this scrub as well.

just like every other La Mer product i have used, i really think this is a fabulous product. no matter your skin type (even sensitive), this is something you have to try to believe. and if you are looking for something to splurge on, this should be the item you choose!

what i'm loving now: La Mer The SPF 30 UV Protecting Fluid

La Mer The SPF 30 UV Protecting Fluid instantly became my new favorite sunscreen shortly after i first began to use it. its oh-so luxurious formula makes my skin feel amazing after applying it, and the smooth cream is so lightweight, gives my skin a pretty glow and even works great as a primer!

The SPF 30 was designed to utilize light energy, provide broad spectrum uva/uvb protection, and keep skin soft, comfortable and hydrated.

how does this one product do so much?

first of all, it contains exclusive Hollow Photonic Spheres that help reroute light and scatter individual light waves. so while the spf is protecting the skin, the spheres capture the good light, making the skin appear more healthy and luminous.

to keep skin feeling comfortable and hydrated, The SPF 30 contains a new smart seaweed ferment, along with green tea and rosemary, to protect skin against fluctuating pH, humidity and climate changes. it attracts moisture as well, preventing dehydration.

and before i forget, the fluid uses gemstones to enhance the formula's anti-oxidant activity.

whew! there is so much going on in The SPF 30 Protecting Fluid that thinking about it could just make your head spin, so take it from me-- it's simply fabulous! i love that my skin is protected, hydrated and has a "helping hand" to stay looking great all day.

Creme de La Mer: The Moisturizing Gel Cream

a couple of weeks ago, i reviewed the original Creme de la Mer. while my results were satisfactory, i have to say i love The Moisturizing Gel Cream formula so much more!

designed to be used in the warm weather months, the Gel Cream also works amazingly for oilier skin types. it's so cool and refreshing when i apply it to my face- i felt like my skin is so thankful for it!

the formula, that contains the special sea kelp found in the Original (combined with other natural ingredients like calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, lecithin, Vitamin C, E and B12), is ultra-lightweight, but my skin gets great hydration. the bonus? it has a citrus scent (wow, am i scoring big time lately with the citrus scents or what?)!

if you have oily skin, or you're looking for a great lightweight moisturizer, this is definitely an alternative to the original Creme de la Mer.

and if you're wondering: yes, it too comes in sample sizes for you to try!

find La Mer Moisturizing Gel Cream at select Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman stores and online at lamer.com

Creme de la Mer: the review

i have always been quite curious about the famous Creme de La Mer, so having the opportunity to try it was quite exciting.

i had read that it is quite heavy and that while it doesn't irritate or cause breakouts, may not work very well for oilier skin.

this is true.

i found, however, that i could use it very sparingly at night and my skin would look radiant and beautiful in the morning. the more i used it, the more i noticed my skin taking on a healthy glow. i never broke out from using this, and you know this if you're a regular reader, that this is fabulous for me!

this product has such a great reputation, and many women swear it is the best product for the skin. of course, i also know that it isn't the cheapest product out there. so, if you are curious about Creme de la Mer, there are always samples available wherever it is sold. try it out for yourself, and then decide if it's worth the price to you!

Creme de la Mer is sold at fine department stores and online at cremedelamer.com
