Project Runway winning look: Bold Metallic Eyes by Mary Kay

for the Project Runway Season 13 finale, one beauty trend captivated the runway…

 bold metallic eyes!

Mary Kay global makeup artist Luis Casco created glowing silver eyes for the models of Project Runway winner, Sean Kelly, which is so simple to do! it easily transfers from runway to real life, and i would know this because i did it!

this winning shiny metal look is playful and sexy enough for the catwalk, but absolutely fabulous for daily wear by regular gals like me {and, if i'm being honest, the closest "runway" i get to walk is a grocery isle or hallway in my house, LOL!}.

in any case, here's how to get this metallic eye look:

1. generously apply Mary Kay® Cream Eye Color in Glacier Gray all over eyelids as a base with brush.
2. sweep Mary Kay® Mineral Eye Color in Sterling on to inner halves of eyelids and build out under inner thirds of bottom lashes until you see it disappear. take color left in brush and sweep across brow bone to brighten eye.
3. line along creases and outer thirds of lower lash lines with Mary Kay At Play™ Eye Crayon in Purple Smoke and blend slightly.
4. intensify lashes with two coats of Mary Kay® Lash Love Mascara in Black to top and bottom lashes.
5. apply Mary Kay® Mineral Cheek Color in Golden Copper to apples of cheeks in an upward diagonal toward brow bone.
6. pair eyes with a neutral lip by applying Mary Kay At Play™ Jelly Lip Gloss in Teddy Bare to center of lips.

told you it was simple! and, as always, i love all the products {full disclosure, i've been a huge fan of the brand for many years}. the shadows are fabulously pigmented, the blush silky and the mascara is among one of my faves for creating defined, lush lashes. the gloss is creamy and leaves my lips feeling great without being too sticky.

so, what do you think of this look? if you watched Project Runway, what did you think of this season? were you happy with the choice of Sean as the winner?

be sure to visit marykay.com for more info about the products featured. and be sure to watch Project Runway Allstars, currently underway. Mary Kay is the beauty sponsor for this new season as well.

Project Runway Emerald Smoke Eye Look by Mary Kay

the 13th season of Project Runway began airing june 24, and so far {two episodes at this point}, it's been fabulous with many surprising moments. i'm already loving each designer {no faves just yet} ~ all have such unique points of view.

a huge plus about this season is the fact that Mary Kay is the beauty sponsor! as a fan of the brand, this makes me so happy. i'm eager to watch as the iconic beauty company will take center stage each week on the faces of the gorgeous models. when it comes to finishing touches, the makeup and hair always adds so much.

that said, one of the beauty looks {created by global makeup artist Luis Casco} featured on the first episode was a gorgeous green smoky eye, and it's super easy to recreate!

“green is one of the hottest shades for fall and i love how it brightens any color eyes!” ~Luis Casco

the eye products used {all by Mary Kay} include Cream Eye Color in Meadow Grass, used as a base and swept all over the lid. to enhance the color, Mineral Eye Color in Emerald was applied on the outer halves of eyelids, followed by Mineral Eye Color in Lime onto the inner thirds of eyelids. to finish the look, Eyeliner in Black was applied along the top and bottom lash lines {blending outwards toward the corners of the eye} with a few coats of Lash Love Lengthening mascara {in black} to the top and bottom lashes.

other products used:
Cream Blush in Cranberry {start sheer and build the intensity on the apples of your cheeks as you see fit based on your skin tone.}, Cappuccino Lip Liner, topped off with True Dimensions Lipstick in Mystic Plum directly from the tube.

i love this easy, green smoky eye ~ what do you think of this look, beauties?

are you {or will you now be} watching Project Runway?

stay tuned as i'll be sharing more regarding this season, including my thoughts on the episodes, designers and challenges {sometimes, when the mood strikes}, more makeup looks and how-tos {of course}, and occasionally {thanks to Mary Kay}, i'll even be creating my own variation of the featured beauty looks.

Project Runway airs on thursday nights on Lifetime {check your local listings for time and channel}, and is also available to stream on hulu.

Fashion House: Project Runway with a Twist

if you haven't heard the news by now, this is the final season that Project Runway will airing on the Bravo network. next season the fabulous show will make it's move over to Lifetime.

while i can't imagine Project Runway anywhere else, i am thankful that it will still be on the air. i love to watch all of those creative people being challenged to become even better than they already are. and of course all the other stuff that comes from reality tv shows doesn't hurt too much either, you know, it's interesting...

so the reason for this post is to tell you that Bravo has found a replacement for the huge gap it will have to fill once Project Runway says goodbye...

it's called Fashion House, and in a press release, the show is described as a one that replicates the workings of the fashion business through a fashion house. teams of designers will live together and work to create an entire line — rather than just individual pieces — that has the potential to be purchased by commercial buyers.

sounds like Project Runway with a twist! we get to see people working together all the time, and if i know anything about creative minds, it may not always be pretty (ahh...the beauty of reality tv), but you can be sure i'll be watching!

no specific air date has been released at this time, but i'll be sure to keep you filled in!

Project Runway returns for it's fifth season

hold on to your fierce selves because Project Runway is returning next month for another fabulous season on Bravo. i am so happy to be seeing the promos on tv!

this will, of course, be it's final season on Bravo, but will continue on Lifetime for season 6 and beyond. this too, will be Elle magazine's finale year of participation. since Nina Garcia has been hired on at Marie Claire, rumors swirl about the magazine's affiliation with upcoming seasons (sources still won't confirm-- stay tuned).

in any case, i am still beyond thrilled for the new season.

Elle's july issue featuring season four winner Christian is on newsstands now!

season five of Project Runway premieres july 16, check your local listings.
