3 easy ways i wear green eyeshadow

bonjour, beauties! hope you're enjoying your day…

since posting the Emerald Smoke eye look last week, i've been playing with variations of green and am loving it! while i'm not shy when it comes to playing up my eyes with different shades of makeup, i do, like many, sometimes fall into a routine. my go-to look is typically more suitable for day and neutral, but can easily be done with any color eyeshadows and liners.

the following looks are 3 ways i've been keeping my look fresh, using green shades...

the first green eye makeup look is definitely simple, with just a pop of color just under my eyes.

super simple and adds the perfect a hint of eye-opening drama: the cat eye. this look is a classic and always on trend!

and finally, the smoky eye look. this is always a fave of mine. keeping lips and cheeks neutral, this is a fun way to add color my face. to take it to night, i'd add lashes and punch up the lip color.

products i used for these looks:

Mary Kay eye shadows in Meadow Grass {cream}, Emerald and Lime {mineral eye shadows}
MAC Eyeshadow in Glamour Check!
Maybelline Master Smoky Liner Pencil in Emerald Fury
Wet N Wild eye liner in Green
Physicians Formula Kohl Kajal bronze eyeliner from Nude Eyes trio

tell me: what's your favorite eyeshadow shade to wear these days and what's your favorite way to wear it?

Mary Kay and MAC products sent to me for review consideration; i bought all other products mentioned; pics taken by me :)

Project Runway Emerald Smoke Eye Look by Mary Kay

the 13th season of Project Runway began airing june 24, and so far {two episodes at this point}, it's been fabulous with many surprising moments. i'm already loving each designer {no faves just yet} ~ all have such unique points of view.

a huge plus about this season is the fact that Mary Kay is the beauty sponsor! as a fan of the brand, this makes me so happy. i'm eager to watch as the iconic beauty company will take center stage each week on the faces of the gorgeous models. when it comes to finishing touches, the makeup and hair always adds so much.

that said, one of the beauty looks {created by global makeup artist Luis Casco} featured on the first episode was a gorgeous green smoky eye, and it's super easy to recreate!

“green is one of the hottest shades for fall and i love how it brightens any color eyes!” ~Luis Casco

the eye products used {all by Mary Kay} include Cream Eye Color in Meadow Grass, used as a base and swept all over the lid. to enhance the color, Mineral Eye Color in Emerald was applied on the outer halves of eyelids, followed by Mineral Eye Color in Lime onto the inner thirds of eyelids. to finish the look, Eyeliner in Black was applied along the top and bottom lash lines {blending outwards toward the corners of the eye} with a few coats of Lash Love Lengthening mascara {in black} to the top and bottom lashes.

other products used:
Cream Blush in Cranberry {start sheer and build the intensity on the apples of your cheeks as you see fit based on your skin tone.}, Cappuccino Lip Liner, topped off with True Dimensions Lipstick in Mystic Plum directly from the tube.

i love this easy, green smoky eye ~ what do you think of this look, beauties?

are you {or will you now be} watching Project Runway?

stay tuned as i'll be sharing more regarding this season, including my thoughts on the episodes, designers and challenges {sometimes, when the mood strikes}, more makeup looks and how-tos {of course}, and occasionally {thanks to Mary Kay}, i'll even be creating my own variation of the featured beauty looks.

Project Runway airs on thursday nights on Lifetime {check your local listings for time and channel}, and is also available to stream on hulu.

nail color of the week: L'Oreal Owl's Night

this week i dressed my nails in a fabulous shade i purchased last year from the L'Oreal Project Runway collaboration, Owl's Night.

this dark olive green nail polish is loaded with gorgeous gold, rust and green micro-glitter and is a dream to apply. i love this deep shade ~ it's perfect for the current chilly-weather season and will be a daring color to rock when it begins to warm up!

what nail color are you wearing this week?

nail color of the week: Wallis by butter London

Wallis by butter London is a fierce shade of metallic-mustard-olive-green goodness...i wasn't sure if i'd like it, but had to give it a try...

i've been wearing this for about two days now, and have to say i do love that it's different; that and the fact that i decided to get it while taking advantage of the bogo free sale at ulta {it just happened last week-- did you get any polishes from the sale??}, makes it even better.

up until my purchase, i had little experience, ok, absolutely no experience with the brand. of course, i had heard such good things about it, and it didn't disappoint! the formula is easy to apply and this shade turned out fabulous in 2 coats. i suppose if i wanted to i could have done with just one, but i never do that anyway, so i won't start now.

so...what do you think of this shade?

nail color of the week: Essie Sew Psyched

over the weekend i gave myself a manicure using essie's Sew Psyched, a shade i discovered thanks to one of my favorite bloggers, Daneen, when she shared it first on twitter {and then her blog}.

this color is described as a cashmere-soft sage pewter, and i couldn't agree more. it has a sheen like pewter, but definitely leans on the grey-green end of the spectrum.

in the bottle, Sew Psyched looks lighter, but is darker once it's on the nail. this gem is fabulous and a great color to choose if you're looking to be daring yet still a bit understated.

this one's a keeper. :)

nail color of the week: Sephora By OPI Leaf Him at the Altar

the name might imply something a bit harsh, but the color, Leaf Him at the Altar, is so gorgeous and also perfect for St. Patrick's Day.

described as a metallic vine green by the brand, this shimmery green polish caught my eye the moment i saw it at Sephora. i didn't hesitate to put it in my basket and buy it-- um, can you blame me? not only is my polish collection in need of more greens, but it's also very on trend for spring!

nail color of the week: OPI for Sephora Mermaid to Order

something a little different: OPI for Sephora's Mermaid to Order. i bought this amazing blue-green shade at the beginning of summer on a trip to Sephora with my daughter. we both said "ooohhhh, so pretty!", so i bought it.

then it sat on a shelf all summer...

if mermaids were real, their tails would be this color (well, at least some of them, LOL). anyway, i finally pulled it off that shelf last week and put it on. when i went to pick up my kids from school, my daughter instantly noticed-- "you've had that for so long, i'm glad you're finally wearing it"-- of course now she wants to wear it, too. :)

you can find OPI for Sephora Mermaid to Order at Sephora or online sephora.com

nail color of the week: Sally Hansen Jumpin' Jade

Sally Hansen has released a new collection of Insta-Dry shades, and one of the colors, Jumpin' Jade, caught my eye instantly. this shade is between teal and kelly green, has a pretty shimmer, and i think it's gorgeous.

now, while the color is great, the application was so frustrating. it took me five tries (don't laugh, please) to get the result in the pic. the polish is a bit on the thick side, and really does dry fast, so there isn't any room for mistakes. also, the brush is odd and very wide, so that also took some getting used to.

what do you think?
