hair therapy: Ji Baek's Must-Have Hair Mask

in my opinion, Rescue Beauty makes the most amazing nail polishes. though i only own three polishes (pricey little gems, they are), i still have found the formula to be incredible. Ji Baek, the fabulous mind behind the brand and owner of the Rescue Beauty Lounges in nyc, was featured in the february issue of Real Simple magazine talking about her favorite way to get her hair soft and shiny.

according to the interview (a small paragraph, but very informative all the same), Ji uses Hamandi Shea Mask twice a week. after wetting her hair, she applies a handful of the rich conditioner to her hair, then wraps it up in a plastic bag to let it deeply penetrate her hair. after 20 minutes, she rinses it out.

this is something i need to try asap!!

btw, when she wants a fool-proof, lower-cost way to moisturize lack-luster hair, she uses "good, old-fashioned mayonnaise".

nail color of the week: Rescue Beauty Lounge Grunge

Rescue Beauty Lounge's Grunge is a fabulous neutral, but unlike any neutral i own. it's a described as a moody pinkish grey with a dash of lilac, and i think that's a perfect description.

though i bought Grunge earlier this year, this is only my second time wearing it. in certain light it really looks more pink, and in others it looks more grey-- look at it, it's amazing! :)

nail color of the week: Rescue Beauty Lounge Mismas

Mismas is an amazing polish color that has been featured in InStyle and People StyleWatch magazines, and just happens to have been created by someone i know! Michelle Mismas writes one of my favorite blogs, All Lacquered Up (if you haven't already guessed, she's a polish fanatic), and is the go-to source when i want to know all about the latest and greatest nail colors and trends.

back to the polish-- not only is this a gorgeous true purple, but it's a cream-- no shimmer to found (love that!). i have received countless compliments while wearing this and my daughter loves wearing it, too!

Rescue Your Nails!

Rescue Your Nails is a new book from the queen of the manicure, Ji Baek.

whatever was i thinking? i’ve spilled all my secrets on giving yourself a manicure and pedicure worthy of the Rescue Beauty name at home.

this book is loaded with tips on everything from professional techniques to sterilizing your tools, to nail shapes, colors and styles, and even how to quit biting your nails for once and for all (i need that one for my daughter).

this is the book we all need, right? i myself have no problems giving myself a mani, it's the pedi i can't bring myself to do. everytime i try, i end up driving myself to the salon to have a pro do it. not that i can't do it, i just don't like having to bend and reach and...well...let's face it, it's just nice to have someone else do something for me just once and a while (ok...every two weeks). it's a treat to reward myself for all of the hard work i do everyday (sometimes i'll let my manicurist do my nails, too... smile...), but i know the nail guru herself will be able to change my ways.

and hey, if i can learn to do my feet the Rescue Beauty way, i'll have more money spend on other things! (wink)
