hair therapy: GG Gatsby hair products

don't judge a book by it's cover; it's what's on the inside that counts…

those wise words or i should say, phrases, above, to me, perfectly exemplify the GG Gatsby line of products i was sent to try recently. if you've read my blog long enough, you know i lean toward posting about things i like and find worthy to be used. i'm all about sharing the positive.

while my experience with these GG Gatsby hair products has been really good, i do have one gripe and need to get  it out of the way first: i don't like the labeling.

they look like they were printed out at home and stuck on generic bottles. this is my personal opinion and really my only problem regarding these products. maybe since the brand is relatively new {i believe just a little more than 2 years old}, this will {hopefully} improve over time.

ok, i've said enough! on to the good stuff ~ read on for my take on 4 stand-out products that i think are definitely worth checking out, regardless of what's on the outside...

GG Gatsby Straight Away Shampoo
when i first used this shampoo, i thought it was the conditioner. the consistency and texture leans more on the creamy side; it's gentle and sulfate-free, but still creates a rich lather. i love how this cleanses without stripping my hair of moisture, and since it's formulated with keratin, soy protein, and date fruit oil it aids in improving hair elasticity, reducing frizz and adding extra shine.

GG Gatsby Straight Away Conditioner
formulated with keratin, soy protein and avocado oil, this conditioner, in contrast to the shampoo, is very thin in consistency; i'm so used to using highly moisturizing conditioners {they're typically thick and creamy in consistency}, so when i first poured it in my hand, i was a bit surprised at this. thankfully, i have many years of using beauty products under my belt,  so i know that products have to be used to fully know how well they work. all of this is to say i love this conditioner. what it lacks in bulk, it makes up for by giving my hair gorgeous softness, less frizz and more shine.

GG Gatsby Set It Straight Straightening Balm
this fabulous, lightweight cream smells great, works as it says it will, and always leaves my hair looking better. when blow drying it speeds up dry time, so i can't help but love that. the heat-activated balm is formulated with keratin protein, date fruit, avocado and babassu oils to hydrate, soften, protect and smooth hair cuticle this balm performs beautifully on my hair, leaving it soft, sleek and more healthy looking.

GG Gatsby Supershine Dry Oil Mist
out of all these products, this one is my fave. the formula, infused with argan and sunflower oil, this ultra lightweight dry il is versatile and a fabulous multitasker. the quick absorbing beauty isn't just for hair, but skin and nails as well. just as it promises it is highly moisturizing and not greasy.

more good stuff:
all GG Gatsby products are free of: parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, sulfates, PABA, petrolatum, paraffin, DEA, MEA, chitosan, GMO's, animal ingredients and animal testing ~ fab!

visit gggatsby.com for more info regarding these and other products in the range.

pampering your feet between pedicures...

sure, we're heading into the fall season, but that's no excuse to let the appearance of your feet go. it's easy for me since the weather is still quite warm where i live; shoes that leave feet exposed are still being worn in heavy rotation. to keep my feet {heels especially} in tip-top shape between pedicures, i've been using some products that can be used year-round, and i think you'll love them, too...

The Best Pedi Prep Ever! is made by Julep, and you guessed it, is a prep for smoothing away pesky calluses and rough spots thanks to the exfoliating alpha hydroxy acids and soothing chamomile it contains. after rolling on and letting Prep sit on my feet for a couple of minutes, i run the foot file over rough areas, rinse, and my skin is left perfectly smooth, ready for those sandals.

at night, i've been pampering my feet using NightCare's Heel Treatment Kit. included in the kit are a pair of Moisturizing Gel Heel Socks, lined with what the brand calls Viso-Gel, and a tube of vitamin-enriched Intensive Healing Foot Cream. it's such a treat to apply this before bed. any dryness is eliminated overnight. the gel socks work well alone and the lotion can be used solo, too, but as a team they are truly at their best.

i've also been using Dermelect Cosmeceuticals Runway Ready Foot Treatment. this yummy-feeling formula is infused ingredients that sooth, soften and energize feet. argan oil {anti-oxidant rich with vitamins A & E}, moisturizing shea butter, hydrating hyaluronic acid and exfoliating AHAs and BHAs work together beautifully, and i've noticed a positive difference in my feet. i really enjoy the cooling sensation, perfect to pep up my feet before a run {and of course, give them a boost in moisture while i hit the road}.

how do you keep your feet looking fab between pedis?? let me know in the comments!

What Products Do You Find Overrated?

it's not a surprise that i use a lot of beauty products. i do it in order to bring you what i think is worth spending your hard-earned money on. but these are just my opinions, and you may even find yourself disagreeing with me from time to time. not everyone agrees on what products are amazing. in fact, there are a plethora of products that are surrounded in hype and have just as many people loving them as those who don't share the same sentiment.

i asked my fellow beauty-lovers via Twitter to answer this question for me: what product(s) do you find to be over-rated? see if you can spot the pattern...

@sugarshock: Creme de la Mer!

@ReneeRouleau I second Creme de la Mer! It's loaded with Mineral Oil...the cheapest quality oil on the market.

@fourniercomm I have to agree Creme de la mer

@BeautyBlogger Maybelline GreatLash Mascara. Have no idea why so many gals love it.

@WLCO Eve Lom Cleanser, Creme de la Mer, Strivectin

@BeautyITBag Did anyone already mention Hylexin?

@BeautyChick101 Definitely Creme de la Mer. I've never seen the amazingness behind it!

did you see it? yep, an overwhelming 5 out of 7 of these beauty-loving gals said Creme de la Mer! i admit, i actually like it, although i did prefer the gel over the original.

here are some other products i found while surfing the 'net that have been deemed "over-rated" by people who used them:

Bare Minerals
Philosophy Hope In a Jar
Benefit BadGal Mascara
Smashbox Lipgloss
Proactiv Skincare

out of the above products, i definitely think Proactiv is over-rated. it dried out my skin so much i literally started to get wrinkles around my eyes and forehead, and it did nothing to clear up my skin-- not good! in any case, tell me...

what product(s) do you find to be over-rated? tell me in the comments!
