review: Gillette Venus Embrace

the Gillette Venus Embrace has five blades, glides smoothly over my legs, and i love the way it leaves my legs feeling so smooth.

i shared just a few days ago that i prefer to use mens' razors-- my favorite is the Gillette Fusion-- so this is the first razor for women that i really actually like. one reason being that this didn't disappoint me with all of its big claims (smooth legs, easy to use, etc.).

the Embrace easily adjusts and pivots over my knees and ankles without leaving any nicks or irritation, and the handle is very comfortable. i like that it comes with its own holder (called a ShowerPod) with suction cup attachments for convenient razor and blade storage. so if i want to change the blade, and forget to do it before i get into the shower, there's one already there.

if you haven't already tried the Venus Embrace, i highly recommend it. pick it up at a drugstore near you or online at drugstore.com

my favorite drugstore beauty buys: Gillette, Clean & Clear and Maybelline

happy friday, all! it's cold and rainy today in socal, so after running some overdue errands, i have spent the majority of my day inside sipping hot tea, and watching repeats of Clean House (love that show!).

of course there are other things i've been doing- like laundry, yuck-- and now i'm here to bring you my favorite drugstore beauty buys. :) enjoy...

the Gillette Fusion Razor isn't just for men, ladies. this fabulous 5-blade razor (actually it's six if you count the extra blade at the top) has been used by me since hubby decided to try it about a year and half ago. i have always been a fan of men's razors, so when he switched, so did i. and for good reason-- i get an amazing, close shave with no nicks or irritation, and each cartridge lasts such a long time (about three weeks), that i don't mind the cost of the refills.

Clean & Clear Soft In-Shower Facial is a deep cleansing and exfoliating product in one. just as the name suggests, it's like a giving yourself a mini-facial when you use it. meant to be used exclusively in the shower to get the steam benefits, the first step of this "facial" is to leave the the product on for about a minute, and then gently massage into skin. it tingles a bit when applied, and after rinsing my skin always feels fresh and really clean. love...

Maybelline Shiny-Licious Lipgloss are yet another line in my collection of glosses-- and i love them! these give a fabulous amount of shine without stickiness, taste yummy, and actually last a good amount of time on my lips. each shade gives the perfect amount of sheer color. Pink Sorbet, Coral Punch and Berry Bella are my faves.

have you tried any of my picks from this week? if so, what are your thoughts?

have a great weekend!

my favorite drugstore beauty buys 9.12.08

happy friday, all! how was your week?

mine, overall, was fabulous, and i am happy to end it by spending today with hubby. the kids are in school all day, and tonight they will each be spending the night at someone's house. so essentially, we have one full day and evening alone without the kids...yay!

oh, oops...was that a little too excited sounding?

moving on, this weeks beauty buys!

so what's in store this week? check it out:

ChapStick Lip Moisturizer SPF 15 happens to be the only lip balm that i will use from the drugstore. it isn't waxy or greasy feeling, and gives my lips a soft, smooth feeling. i admit that i don't use it every single day, but there are times when i really need something to moisturize my lips outside of a regular gloss. this also has an spf, so that makes it an even better product!

Gillete Satin Care Shave Gel in Alluring Avocado is an ultra moisturizing shave gel that doesn't smell like avocado, but rather a very light and fresh citrus-y floral. a little goes a long way with this one, as the gel creates a foam once you begin to smooth it over your legs. avocado oil helps to leave your skin feeling incredibly soft, with no cuts or razor burn!

Curel Targeted Therapy Fast-Absorbing Hand & Cuticle Cream isn't just for dry hands. you can use this fabulous product on elbows and heels as well! it does have a scent, something floral, but i don't really know what it is. in any case, it's a pleasant smell, and it doesn't bother me. another great fact about this hand cream? it lasts after many handwashings (especially fabulous if you like to, or have to, wash your hands a lot).

so what are your plans for the day or for the weekend? let me know in the comments!

hope you have an amazing weekend!
