beauty review: Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes

as i grow older more fabulous, i've found myself using concealer under my eyes on a more frequent basis. the use of eye creams, anti-aging serums, gels and the like are not new to me, and i'm a huge fan of highlighting/illuminating products. so, as one might expect, when i was introduced to Smashbox BB Camera Ready for Eyes, i was obviously very curious and excited to try the new multitasker.

 and it is a multitasker!

not just a concealer, this beauty is also a treatment, a primer, an illuminator and offers spf 15 sun protection.

love it!

and just when you think it can't do any more, it does. BB for Eyes can also be used to highlight your brow bones, giving your face a more lifted appearance, and you can use it when contouring around the cheeks, creating a more defined look.

beauty review: Mally Beauty Pro-Tricks Correct and Conceal Palette

oh how i love thee, Mally Pro-Tricks Correct and Conceal Palette...

ok, maybe that's a bit dramatic...

but i have to tell you, this trio of concealers is fabulous!

"now you can have all of the tricks of a makeup pro right at your fingertips! with this palette, you have everything you need to...highlight your best features and contour your skin." ~Mally Roncal

one of the best things about the concealer formula is that it gives full, blendable coverage and still looks natural. the result is a beautiful, dewy finish that lasts all day. after applied, it truly feels like nothing on my skin, which is especially beneficial now with the heat of summer is in full effect {we just had a serious heatwave over the past weekend, and it was far from fab!}.

trust me, when you want coverage, but don't want to have a makeup meltdown in the middle of the day, a good, long-wearing product like this is a must!

i don't use every shade everyday {i use the middle shade the most}, but they all work well together for highlighting, contouring, and of course, hiding those imperfection that you don't want the world to see.

love!!

available in 2 trios, Lighter or Deeper, you can find Mally Pro-Tricks Correct and Conceal Palette at qvc.com.  also, do make sure and visit mallybeauty.com for more info about the fabulous Mally Roncal herself and discover more about the brand!

summer beauty: natural-looking skin with Mary Kay

summer is all about scaling back, taking it easy, and, with regard to makeup, the opportunity for me go with a more natural look, putting less is more into practice. to do this, i enlist the help of a trio of Mary Kay products that you yourself might like to try...

to start, i use Tinted Moisturizer Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 20. one thing i wear daily {and year-round} is sunscreen, but i love this skincare beauty because it eliminates a step in my routine. the coverage is quite sheer {i use bronze 1}, but the subtle dewy finish makes my skin look really pretty.

to cover up flaws the moisturizer doesn't hide, MK's Concealer is amazing. a heavyweight in the coverage department, its creamy texture feels incredibly lightweight once applied, creating a smooth and flawless finish.

finally, i use MK's Facial Highlighting Pen {shade 3}. this formula can be used to brighten up dark areas of the face {under the eyes, around the mouth, corners of the nose}, but i like to use a bit blended in the corners of my eyes and over my cheekbones, so the sunlight will catch the reflective pigments, creating a lit from within appearance.

with my skin finished, i typically complete my natural, less is more look with a little blush, a light dusting of powder or finishing spray to set everything in place, and i'm good to go!

well, i also have to apply mascara...lipgloss...fill in my brows...

hey, i said i'm practicing... ;)

tell me: do you wear less makeup in the summer? what are your go-to products?

beauty on a budget: Iman Cosmetics

Iman Cosmetics, for some odd reason, is not sold at any drugstore in my area-- and if it is, i guess i just haven't seen it (i've looked!). it doesn't matter anymore because i'm here now to tell you that i have been given the opportunity to try some of the latest goodies, and i am loving them!

created for women of color (and i'm talking about the range of brown skin as well as the range of latina, asian, and multi-ethnic skin tones), Iman cosmetics features a vast array of colors that you may not always find in other drugstore brands. the formulations are great, too-- check out some of the newest products:

Second To None Semi-Loose Powder is a fabulous mineral-infused powder that helps to reduce oil and creates a flawless finish. i like to dust this over my makeup after i have applied my foundation and sometimes during the day to freshen myself up-- love! the pressed powder is "shaved" to be loose just before usage, so it is also travel friendly.

Second To None Cover Cream is enriched with minerals, and antioxidants like goji berry, vitamin E and green tea. the creamy texture blends easily, and stays in place. i apply it with my fingers or with a brush over my liquid foundation or under powder, and it does an amazing job of hiding my flaws.

Luxury Eye Defining Powder is a unique product that can be used to create everything from a pretty day look (with the lighter colors), to a very sultry, smokey eye with a little something extra pop. the application is for adding definition, like an eye liner, it goes on with the ease of an eyeshadow, and the shimmery finish really make it special.

Luxury Lip Stain looks like a lipstick, but has a creamy texture that glides on smooth and feels fabulous to wear. i am not usually a fan of lipstick, but this is a bit different in that, in addition to the texture, it adds a sheer hint of color to lips without feeling heavy.

Luxury Lip Shines are infused with aloe and vitamin E to nourish lips and keep them feeling smooth and soft. the colors are glossy and shimmery-- perfect for amping up the glam factor!

Be Camera-Ready With Prescriptives

these days cosmetics are working overtime to provide amazing coverage so you always look your best, especially in photos. Prescriptives has released an amazing group of products to ensure you'll always be camera ready, because let's face it, we take and have our pictures taken all the time.

here's Prescriptives' prescription for creating a flawless face (try saying that three times fast!):

start with Flawless Face Primer to give your skin a smoother, more even texture. this weightless formula not only reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles, but it helps makeup look absolutely flawless throughout the day and night.

be camera shy no more when using Photochrome Light-Adjusting Compact Makeup SPF 15. with its light-reflecting photo-friendly particles to diffuse glare, it softens the look of lines and wrinkles to help you look your best...even on hi-def t.v.!

a zoom lens can cause a bit of stress (eeek! too close!), but Prescriptives' Custom Blend Concealer is specifically meant to cover what you want to hide and finish your look-- it's the final touch in achieving skin perfection.

i don't know about you, but these products sound amazing! i will be bringing you a formal review of the Photochrome Light-Adjusting Compact Makeup SPF 15 soon, so stay tuned!

in the meantime, visit prescriptives.com to find out more about these products, or see them for yourself to find your perfect shade match at a Prescriptives beauty counter near you.
