The September Issue Receives Award at Sundance

the film, The September Issue, which i shared information about with you a couple of weeks ago, won the Grand Jury Prize for Excellence in Cinematography at the Sundance Film festival. now i don't know about you, but the more i hear about this movie, the more i want to see it!

from the 2009 Sundance Film Festival Official Catalog:

Anna Wintour, editor of Vogue for 20 years, is the most powerful and polarizing figure in fashion. larger than life and more complex than fiction, Wintour embodies a fascinating contradiction of passion and perfectionism as she reigns over a dizzying array of designers, models, photographers, and editors.

director R.J. Cutler delivers a rare insider account of the nine months leading up to the printing of the highly anticipated september issue of the magazine, which promises to be the biggest one ever. he takes us behind the scenes at fashion week, to europe and back, on shoots and reshoots, and into closed- door staff meetings, bearing witness to an arduous and sometimes emotionally demanding process.

Fabulous Editorial: Vogue February 2009

models Anna Maria Jagodzinska, Viktoriya Sasonkina, Karlie Kloss, Liya Kebede, Jourdan Dunn and Natasha Poly make up this incredible editorial in february's issue of Vogue.

titled It's a Madcap World, this spread takes the reader into a sophisticated look at hats and 1930s-inspired fashion.
















this spread is incredible, really, considering the mag has been a bit boring (to me) for the last couple of months. it's fabulous to see these models in actual settings, and not just in front of blank backdrops.

Vogue Documentary will be showing at Sundance

R.J. Cutler's Vogue documentary, in the works since 2006, that followed the production of the magazine's epic september 2007 issue for nine months is finally ready to make its debut!

who doesn't want to see this? do you remember that september 2007 issue of Vogue-- it was huge (nearly five pounds)!!!

moving on...

the formerly untitled film about Vogue and Anna Wintour is now titled The September Issue, and will be competing at The Sundance Film Festival jan. 16-18, 21 and 23 in the US Documentary category. let's hope for some good reviews on this one because the film crew was granted "unprecedented access", and i would love to see it! it would be fabulous, not to mention educational, to learn how such an issue came to be, don't you think?

plus, i hear Anna would like to have a more positive light shown onto her mysterious and, for lack of a nicer, more family-friendly term, "grumpy" persona.
