red carpet beauty: Keri Russell

for the movie premiere of "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" {i don't know about you, but i'm so looking forward to seeing it!} celebrity makeup artist Tina Turnbow created a radiant look for Keri Russell that worked to only make the already gorgeous actress look simply stunning.

using Juara Skincare and Votre Vu products, Tina shared the details on how she created the look...

Tina first applied Juara’s Tamarind Tea Hydrating Toner onto Keri's cleansed skin to prep it for moisturizer, a vital step in creating the overall look.

Keri likes a dewy, glowy look, so moisturizing is a really important step. Tina used Juara Sweet Black Tea & Rice Facial Moisturizer and Sweet Black Tea Eye Crème to hydrate and give her skin that "plump, luminescent look."

Keri wore a Monique Lhuillier A-line, 50s style black skirt with a white top, so Tina's modern take on the classic 50's look included "a touch of color on the cheeks and lips and emphasize her eyes with a slight cat eye and strong brow."

on the eyes Tina swept a light linen eye shadow all over Keri's lids as the base and followed it with Votre Vu Le Joli Crayon in Charbon, drawing a line from the inner corner out with a little flick at the end to give a lift to the eye and a cat-eye feel. rather than leaving a straight line, a smudger was used to soften and extend the line, giving the eyes a more wide-eyed look.

Votre Vu’s Eiffel Power mascara {a personal favorite of mine!} was applied, concentrating on the outer edge of her top lashes to emphasize that wide-eye effect. Tina adds, "i didn’t put any mascara on her bottom lashes because i really liked the way it looked cleaner on the bottom. to finish off her eyes, i used the Arch de Triumphe in Warm Brown to enhance the arch of the brow and give it more definition."

on Keri's cheeks, Vu-On Rouge in Ma Cherry was used on the apples, as well as bit of the Vu-On Rouge in Amourette on the top of the cheek bones for highlight.

a modern take on a red lip was created using French Kiss in Tatiana {a sheer not too strong lipstick shade} by tapping it onto her lips and softening around the edges. Tina then applied Vu-On Rouge in Amourette onto the center of the lips.

so there you have it! what do you think?

many thanks to Tina for the info; you can find more info about each product at their respected websites; Juara products at juaraskincare.com and Votre Vu at votrevu.com.

Lauren Conrad's New Hair Color

reality star and bestselling author Lauren Conrad arrived at Covergirl Cosmetic's 50th anniversary party with a new look: darker hair!

just to remind you, here's a pic of Lauren with blonde hair (this was taken just a few weeks ago)...

while i, like you, am used to Lauren with lighter hair, i personally really like the new, richer hair color on her-- there are still lighter pieces throughout, too, so it's very flattering.

what do you think?

Oribe Gives Scarlett Johansson a New, Modern Bob

celeb hair guru, Oribe, recently worked with actress Scarlett Johansson to create for her a fabulous new hairstyle. the end result: a lighter-feeling, more modern bob.

Oribe says, "this haircut has a lot of versatility. it's very modern-- a medium-length to longer bob, cut in a really jagged line at the bottom. we kept the good parts of Scarlett's longer hair-- the softer ends-- and took length off the back. the cut isn't super-angled, and it isn't incredibly severe-- it's softer and more wearable. there are a million directions you can take with this haircut-- it's not your typical bob. Scarlett's hair was photographed in more of a natural state, but you can do so much with this style."

Jessica Alba's Undone Updo

Jessica Alba was at Sundance last week to attend the premiere of her film, The Killer Inside Me, and Fekkai stylist Renato Campora made sure she looked fabulous for her night out.

i have to say i love Jessica Alba's hair all pulled out of her face. it's a gorgeous one! plus with the heavy collar of her coat and sweater, it would have been too much to have left her hair down, in my opinion.

here's how Campora styled Jessica's hair:

before blowing her hair dry, Campora used Fekkai Coiff Strong Hold Volume Mousse on hair while it was damp. for the blow dry, he only used his fingers in order to create texture.

next, he wrapped hair around a hair stick to the back of the head and locked it into place. after diffusing the hair at the roots and letting it set for 10 minutes, he took the stick out and applied Fekkai Au Naturel Dry Shampoo. again using his fingers, Campora created more texture at the roots by tousling the hair.

finally, he created a messy bun and secured it using bobby pins and added an elastic headband to give a fresh, defined look. to finish the look, he sprayed Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray to set the style.

Fekkai products can be found online and in Sephora stores as well as fekkai.com

tell me: what do you think of Jessica with this hairstyle?
