since her very first collection, i've loved the collections Victoria Beckham has created. she keeps the aesthetic is true to herself, and it's so obvious every piece is something she would wear. for spring 2011, the chic momma incorporated some bright pops of color and played with more billowy silhouettes.

featuring shoes from Brian Atwood and the debut of her very first handbag collection (insert a Rachel Zoe catchphrase here, wink), each look was complimented by bold, purple shadow on the eyes and middle-parted hair that was mostly sleek-- a waving tool or curling iron was used to crimp hair at the midsection, for an unexpected pop of texture.

what was Beckham's inspiration? she says, "this season we really have a minimal aesthetic, so we're really focusing on the seaming to help with the details. i'm celebrating a woman's curves this season-- it's all about shape. women want to look sexy in a minimal way. it really does bring out the best in a woman's body."

not only shorter, but darker as well. i've been reading everything from "love it!" to "someone's getting fired...her hair looks awful".

i think the woman could be bald and still look gorgeous.

one thing i always love to do, as exemplified by Victoria Beckham, is to wear vibrant colored shoes with a black dress or outfit.

i have found myself sometimes purchasing a pair of shoes because they are so fabulous, but maybe the pattern or color isn't something that goes with something i already have. there is always the option to buy a new outfit (of course!), but if that isn't something i can do, i wear them with all black (or a monochromatic ensemble) so they will stand out!

hair therapy: the gorgeous chignon

Victoria Beckham's hair at the ESPY Awards reminded me of the way i wore my hair to my senior prom (my inspiration was none other than Audrey Hepburn in my all-time favorite movie, Breakfast at Tiffany's). it was such a fabulous style, and thankfully, i can look back on my pics and feel comfortable with people seeing them!

here's an insider trick from InStyle.com to creat for yourself an unforgetable chignon: mist your entire head of hair with a cloud of hairspray to give hair texture and volume. then back-comb at the crown for lift up top. pull hair back into a low ponytail, then neatly wrap the tail of your ponytail around the elastic until you have a neat bun. using about 10 hair pins, secure the bun in place.

Victoria Beckham on the Cover of Allure

Victoria Beckham is on the cover of the august issue of Allure magazine, and i have to say, i love it!

not just the fact that it is her (i admit, i was a fan of the Spice Girls when i was in high school), and i love her style, and i think she has an amazing fashion sense, but look at the cover! it's not just her face, it's her arms and her nails, too-- something i haven't seen on an Allure cover in awhile.

inside the mag, Victoria shares that she is an incredibly ordinary girl who runs around the house in jeans and trainers (sneakers), laughs, smiles (!) and is very fun-loving. she has merely created a character, and is nothing like the woman we see out and about in the media.

for her cover look, makeup artist Scott Andrew wanted to create a more unexpected and natural look for the woman who is famous for vamping it up.

he blended a moisturizer with foundation to give her a sheer wash of color, then applied a sheer rosy blush to the apples of her cheeks. by lining her eyes with a black pencil, skimming her eyelids with a metallic beige eyeshadow, and adding black mascara to her lashes, he created soft and pretty eyes. to give Victoria's lips a natural glow, beige lipstick was dotted with a pink lip stain.

Jessica Galvan + Color = Fabulous Hair

Jessica Galvan transformed Victoria Beckham into a calfornia blonde way back when. remember when Victoria Beckham was a blonde? yeah, it might be hard to remember now, but when she decided to go from platinum blonde to deep brunette, she enlisted Jessica Galvan once more.

Galvan's celebrity clients include Ali Landry, Amanda Bynes, Josie Maran and Paula Abdul. her amazing talent brought a brilliant color to Ms. Beckham. but not just any brown. the combination of Galvan’s expertise and Beckham’s input resulted in Beckham’s dynamic and rich brunette color which used as many as six different shades of brown.

i happen to think the Victoria looks fabulous as a brunette, but of course, that is how i got to know her in the 90's (i was a teenager- ahh memories).
