CoverGirl TruBlend

CoverGirl TruBlend is a new formulation that is said to go beyond just matching your skin tone to actually merge with your skin, for a naturally flawless look.

well, it didn't match my skin tone like the advertising said it would. also, the coverage, if it did, is too sheer. i am sad to say that it did nothing for me. it didn't even out my skin tone, cover blemishes, or last. it could be good for someone with near-flawless skin but that's not many of us.

i was really surprised to see that there were such a small amount of colors to choose from in a darker hue, considering this is a range for all skin tones. i tried two colors; tawny, because the color right below it, classic tan, didn't look like it would be for me, but it turned out to be way too dark. so i went for the classic tan, but it was too light and slightly grey on me. crazy right? there should be at least two colors between them in my opinion.

there are many reviews on the CoverGirl website, (mostly complaints about this new formula) and on Total Beauty so you can check those out for yourself.

i am sad to say this didn't work for me, and i really didn't find anything good about the formula. but that doesn't mean i will write off CoverGirl. i have many other products that i use and love that they manufacture, so no worries.

Bioelements Amino Mask

if you have acne prone skin, like me, and are looking for a fabulous new way to control it, i recommend you get yourself Bioelements Amino Mask. it's the best, most effective mask i have ever used! i think i can say it's an HG product!

i have used many masks to control my acne. and not to say that they didn't work, but they didn't work like this one. i usually would have to use a mask several times before i saw results. the Amino Mask shows skin improvements overnight. i know, i know, there are other masks on the market, one in particular comes to mind, that claim to work overnight, but they didn't work for me.

Bioelements Amino Mask is a salicylic acid mask that also contains sulfur, a great anti-bacterial ingredient. it helps to unclog pores and control oil-production (an added bonus), as weel as calm the skin. it gives a cooling sensation while it sits on my face, which feels lovely (especially with the weather i've been living with lately!). 15 minutes later, my skin feels fresh and soft. the best part-- it clears up exsisting acne, and prevents new flare-ups.

i have two kids, who are now both home on summer break, so i'm a little stressed sometimes! and as you might know, stress can sometimes show up on the face. now i don't have to worry about it. this mask, that could also work well as a spot treatment, has got my back.

find Bioelements Amino Mask can be purchased at dermstore.com and glow.com

look of the day: beach chic

when life takes you out for a day at the beach, it's always a good idea to bring your cover-up along. whether you decide to go strolling along the shore, head to an oceanside restaurant, or peruse a surfside boutique, a comfy but chic cover-up is a fabulous way to stay cool, but feel dressed.

cover-ups can go in any direction, as far as fit goes. you can choose to be a little covered up or alot, it's really up to you.

a great way to go when choosing your cover-up is to find one that is in a contrasting color or print than your swimsuit as this adds a bit of pizazz and chicness. or choose a caftan in a great print, and be just as fabulous!

review: Colossal Volum' Express Mascara

i always browse through cosmetics isles no matter what (hubby hates when i do this when we're together, but i think it is a great way to discover new products). and, of course, i discovered something new-- Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express.

i bought it out of shear curiosity; i'm a little more obsessed than normal with my lashes now that i have used a fabulous lash conditioner that helped me get longer, fuller lashes. now that i'm testing out another, i am experiencing even more lash heaven (yay!). adding mascara into the mix has only made it better!

i have been using Cover Girl LashBlast alot more lately, actually everyday, and to the surprise of myself, i love it! i thought this might be Maybelline's attempt at getting on the amazingly-lush-and-fat-lash bandwagon. plus, Colossal Volum' Express claims to give 9x the volume in one stroke, so i had to try it.

packaged in a bright yellow tube with purple lettering, houses a pretty big wand, but it's longer than Cover Girl's. the handle is smaller, which is a plus, since i had a little trouble- at first- getting used to handling the giant orange wand. it applied nicely, no clumping whatsoever. i can't say i noticed 9 times the volume on the first coat, but...

ok, enough already, how did it work?

this mascara is amazing!

my lashes are huge when i use this! i used LashBlast one day, and Colossal the next, making sure to take pictures so i could compare (sorry i can't post them...i can't upload anything from it). and oh, yes, there was a difference! i couldn't believe it. it was one of those, i-can't-stop-looking-at-my-lashes moments. i can go on and on....it's just too good! i tell you, if you can find this at your local CVS or Walgreens right now, pick it up. it will be released wherever Maybelline is sold july 1st, so if you can wait until then...

i think Colossal Volum' Express is about to give LashBlast a run for it's money. will it replace LashBlast as my everyday mascara? that's something i'll have to wait and see about. maybe i'll layer them together. can you imagine...!

available in 2 shades, Classic Black and Glam Black (which is the one i used), expect the average price to be around $7.
